I'm only referring to 2008s since I tracked that market very closely before I decided to hunt down the newest, lowest mileage 2011.5+ I could find.

2011s have been real firm this whole year. I bought mine in Feb for $54k with 16k miles and CPO included. I would imagine it would price the same or higher now. The "problem" though is basic supply and demand...there is relatively very low supply (especially of low mileage cars without a sunroof!) and strong demand.

As an aside, I was appalled at the condition of some M3s on the used market. Even a relatively low mileage 2010 (30k miles) looked like it had lived nine lives already, everything about the car sounded great, the pictures online looked super, but in person it was a disaster.

Wait until late January/early February if you want it soften up --best time to buy a car.
How much was the asking price of your 2011 M3? I am looking to buy one soon and they are asking $56K for 35K miles

They had an asking price of 57,500 initially, but I paid their "Internet price" with a deal closed over the phone which they were firm on and would not budge, car sight unseen, but deposit contingent upon my inspection. The car was almost as new at 16k miles since as I inspected it at the dealership (BMW Mt Kisco) I had to keep reminding myself this wasn't a brand new car as it was amazingly well cared for by its first owner. BMW Mt Kisco was an excellent dealer to do business with as the car was *better* than described over the phone.

I have 22k miles on it now, and it's been a great car so far -- never had one problem/warranty claim since new. I think I will have it for a very long time as it joined my M5 in my long term plans.

Good to know. The car I am looking to buy is in very very good condition as well I still can't believe how well it was maintained.

6mt, sunroof
leather seats, heated seats, satellite (that's it)
tires 7/32 front 6/32 rear
Priced at $49,600

Thoughts?

Seems like a great price, get the extended warranty from BMW if you get it though.

going forward, I suggest members need to post more details on their quotes or transactions, such as:

cash or dealer financed?
trade or no trade?
CPO or no CPO?
BMW dealer or indy or private sale?
CA or outside of CA?
Sale date
accident & warranty history
and any and all other factors that affect price.

there's a boatload of factors that go into pricing a car on the asking side and on the bidding side. The used car profitability model on the selling side various quite a bit than new cars. It's the only way to compare apples to apples.

OK, here is another:

2011 coupe from a regional Mercedes Dealer, non-CPO.

2011 E92, AW, Silver leather, one owner, warranty till Aug 2014
8800 miles
6mt, carbon roof, cold weather, M drive, Premium, navigation, carbon leather, individual audio, satellite, 220 rims with Conti tires (8/32 front 7/32 rear)
Priced at $53,000
Carfax checks out. Hardly driven.

No trade, partial finance.

Thoughts? I like this vehicle better than the other, but debating whether its worth $3000

Yeah, the extra $3000 is worth it on that car considering it has EPS and iDrive, those 2 options alone are worth ~$6500 when new. Also 2k less miles than the other option which I believe according to the depreciation chart is worth about another $500.

Just bought a RED fully loaded CVT, sedan last week from BMW dealer in VA. 2011 with 23k on it for $48,900.......Volk wheels and get the stock 18" (Have winter tires on them). Going to buy ext warranty through USAA soon, have 1 year left on BMW plan.

I looked for a solid month, and like many have mentioned they found cars that looked great in pictures......but were very rough in person.

I saw that one as well, was considering it before I bought the 2011 MW Coupe. One thing I didn't like about the Red E90 was it looks like it's been exported to South Korea and then exported back? It was a bit confusing to me at that time.

Thinking of buying 2012 silverstone M3 coupe with CPO till 2017 Feb. Has 20K miles on it. Has premium package, price is 59,950. Not sure if it is too much or okay. Still confused

The deals are out there at least in the DC metro. Check out the forums for private sellers. Honestly, I'd trust an active forum member over a dealer for the real history of the car. This sold for $48k.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...6#post14511676

You should be able to find a non cpo 2011 with less than 30k miles for under $50k with decent options like tech, premium, cold, upgraded sound. If its a late model production then maybe a little more, but if you're only getting one year of warranty left then I would stick to below $50K. DCT vs manual shouldn't add much if any to the cost as I've run across similar optioned cars in the same price point. Remember used is used. Assume the ones coming of 3 year lease have a 60% residual value. So like $42k on a $70k msrp car. It's probably safe to assume that BMWFS will sell the dealer the lease car back at somewhere between the residual value and auction price.

I test drove one today with 13k miles with originial msrp of $71k and they wanted $54k for it, of which I declined. It was city driven car, so thats like double the miles with a highway cruiser.
