Used E92
Hello, very broad question here. As I continue my search on this forum, I had a question regarding maintenance. Looking to buy an E92 M3 2009-2010 70-100k miles. Aside from rod bearings. What else to look for? I have read some information about actuators. How important is this/cost of replacement/fix/should it be done? Thank you all in advance.

#1 thing is maintenance history, showing consistent care.
actuators do go but no need to do them preventatively. about $350 a piece + labor to replace.

I am new to the world of older M’s. Thinking about cancelling my G87 for this. Previous M was an F82 comp. The v8 and manual continues to entice me to go the E92 route

that's a tough one. the performance characteristics are completely different. the s65 has nothing down low and you really have to wring it out to get the most out of the engine. i found i had a hard time doing that in a street setting. completely different story on track of course, but still..

I don’t track my cars. I primarily use them as weekend Cars and Coffee/etc. from what I’ve seen the E92 screams on the road and is a blast to drive

I would go E92 for a weekend car. The G series cars are too isolated and have too much feedback dialed out to really be interesting as a weekend car imo. Highly capable cars but the times I’ve driven the G80 (on the track and street), I’m left a bit bored. Fantastic daily drivers though and I’d make the trade off for visceral excitement for comfort if I needed a commuter, but not for a weekend car. The E92 is an experience at every drive and is actually pretty fun even at low speeds just due to the feedback the car returns to you. I didn’t find the G series cars to provoke that same level of fun unless pushed into triple digits or really running the cars at 7/10+ on the track.

Comp pack is overrated. The only difference between newer and older model years is the idrive and taillights basically. I updated my 2012 comp to an android system and honestly I don't use it anymore. Bluetooth audio is the only thing I find important

If you are looking for a keeper that will retain as much value as it can you will want an LCI or newer and a Comp if possible. Many poopoo the comp but it adds a consistent $5k+ to the value all other things being equal. And the wheels look great too. If audio via bluetooth is your interest you will want a 2011.5 or newer to get the combox with full bluetooth control. Works just fine for the times you don't want to just hear the engine scream.
E92 is a classic and it feels like one when you drive it. Very engaging and visceral experience not matched by many newer M cars, if any. Good luck!
