Hey Eric! Nah, they didn't. They painted the chrome bezels (eyeball part) but removed the OEM plastic angel eye rings and replaced it with their own led rings. The bezel is a completely detachable piece, it isn't even attached to the lenses. Just hovers near them. Easy to remove that part, I saw them doing it: the hard parts are removing the bumper to remove the headlights, and then opening and re-sealing the headlights.
