Dinan S65 Engines (Club Racing, Stroker, Rebuilds)

We are pleased to announce the availability of Dinan S65 Club Racing Engines along with our existing S65 lineup of stroker motors and factory rebuilds. A brief synopsis of these engines is listed below.

For those seeking the ultimate high performance driving experience, Dinan has once again redefined M3 performance with a bored and stroked 4.6 liter version of BMW's V-8 engine complete with a dry sump lubrication system and solid lifter camshafts. The engine produces 580 horsepower at 8200 RPM along with increased torque of 390 lb-ft at 6900 RPM. The engine is supplied as an assembled long-block, fully prepared. Due to the engine’s high state of tune, a Bosch or Motec stand-alone engine management system is required to run this breed of S65 engine.

Dinan's 35 years of BMW tuning and racing experience ensure that the engines will perform for lasting trouble free driving excitement. Much of the technology that has made Dinan's Grand-Am Daytona Prototype engines both competitive and reliable has carried over to the 4.6 Liter V-8 engine program for street and amateur racing use, ensuring that the engines produce great power along with race-proven durability

Features and Specification of the Dinan S65 4.6L Club Racing Engine:
  • 4.6L long block (bore = 94mm; stroke = 83mm; compression ratio = 12:1)
  • Peak Power: 580 HP @ 8200 RPM and 390 ft-lbs @ 6900 RPM
  • High lift camshafts with solid lifters
  • Dry Sump lubrication system
  • Dinan proprietary billet crankshaft
  • Dinan proprietary lightweight forged pistons
  • Dinan proprietary light-weight connecting rods
  • Balanced, blueprinted and dynoed
  • Dinan serial numbered block

For any questions or inquiries please give us a call at 800-341-5480.

If you have to ask the price then you cannot afford it.

Wow didn't the usual Dinan 4.6 stroker lower the redline into the high 7900s. I have a feeling this is going to cost as much as a WRX

$49,999 - ($10,000 Core) = $39,999 w/ core. All pricing is listed on the website on the applicable E9x M3 product page. We are also now selling the dry sump kits stand alone as well if that was of interest to anyone.

In the simplest terms the club racing version of the S65 engine is the same as the existing 4.6L stroker but with solid lifters and a dry sump lubrication system. Obviously there are other elements involved but those are the most obvious components.

This is awesome. Glad to see Dinan continuing to release a few things for the 9x's.

Any other products coming down the pipeline we should be waiting for? I really like the upgraded N54 turbos you guys released.

40K YIKES!!

I am getting so turned off by the M parts market. I don't need a lecture here either as I have been around plenty Marques and have done plenty of work to cars. My bros father in laws pro stock motor cost half that price and has much better components and makes 10,000 HP

10k for a long block usable core means that in machine work and parts you have 40K ? Wow.

Very interesting. I love reading about these uber engines.

Is 580hp the highest you can go on 93 fuel?

Not that I'd buy one but $40k for a long block on your door step? I don't find that outside the realm of absurdity. The turn off is the mandate to use aftermarket engine management.

Did Ganassi ever use the S65 in their DP car? I thought they stuck with a Dinan S62 until this year when they went to Ford. Which says a lot...an engine designed 20+ years ago used in a car that could get classic plates in some states...winning championships.

But I'm sure this will be nothing short of an astonishingly amazing engine for someone with deep pockets.

No, they are the holes left by the piston shooting out when the rod bearings fail

HEY, HEY! SETTLE DOWN!

Will Dinan recommend TWS 10w-60 or Mobil 1? That's the real question.

I'm always amazed at what people show up to the track with. I've seen full rigs with trailer, crew and professional instructor at an HPDE. Not even talking about the car...which was a 911 cup car. When he pulled into the garage at COTA, workers checked his car, pulled up his data, and even helped him out of the car! So a measly 40k for an engine seems like chump change. BTW, I don't care how rich that guy was...I still busted his balls about getting helped out of the car.

Another 10k for engine management too..... Dry sump is 6-7k setup so this isent too far off the stoker price.

Nope...just some old rich guy. A pretty cool, down to earth person though.

I don't imagine many of these will sell at the price of a car. Maybe that is why it is priced this way?
