Tape those wheel weights down!

Most of you track junkies know this already, but for new young pups like me...put tape over your wheel balancing weights before hitting the track. I learned the hard way last week when I took off my track wheels at the end of the day and half of the weights fell off.

Oh, and another thing, let the wheels cool off a bit before swapping back to your street setup. Those piping hot lugnuts burn!

I taped with the sillver reflective the weights last weekend and the tape & weights are gone.I made quite an effort to clean the wheels with brake clean in the area to be taped.WTF?My 18's do not have a very large air gap to the 380 mm setup that I am running so I am now wondering if there is a fix for this issue.I am running RS29's.

Isn't that tape suppose to melt onto the wheel weight?
I'm thinking they for knocked off pretty early.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

subscribed for a reliable solution. Same issue drives me mad. Weights also sometimes damage wheel finish when flying out.

You should use aluminum foil tape. I had the same problem with the weight's adhesive melting and coming off at the track. Since then I've covered the weights with the foil tape, and no problems since.
