What happened to all the Sunoco stations?
I live in Burlington and noticed last week a Sunoco station close by me was fenced up which looked like some renovations. No biggie, I went to another station not too far away. Now yesterday this was fenced up and now I noticed the one that was fenced up last week is now a Petro Canada! I drove further around town and see that another Sunoco station in this city has been converted! WTF!! I really needed to fill up so I just put a quick $20 of Esso 91 gas. Where will I get 94 oct gas now?!

All Sunoco stations will close in Ontario. When Petro Canada and Suncor Merged last year one of the terms put into effect by the Competition Bureau was that a number of service stations would have to be closed or sold. After all was said and done Suncor decided that they were going to Market their fuel exclusively under the Petro Canada Brand and were going to either sell or close all of the Sunoco stations they owned.
I work for Suncor (the official name of the merged Petro Canada/Suncor organization) and we were briefed on all of the particulars some time ago. |

Yea I work in Mississauga, and noticed two of them closed there too. I really hated dealing with the staff behind the counter. They were so rude. One day in broad daylight, I pulled up in my M3 convertible and wouldn't turn on the pump unless I pre-paid for the gas. What an insult, I drove off and never bought sunoco gas again.

I've been using Shell 91 too, but if ESSO sells the 94 I might stop by there once in a while too.

ahh ok it all makes sense to me now...
http://www.petro-canada.ca/en/canada...tion/5442.aspx I drove through a Petro-Canada today that used to be a Sunoco and they had the 94 gas. Good good! I also see another station that has been coverted to a HUSKY station. Never heard of them before... a quick Google search pulls up they are a Calgary based company. Any thoughts on this brand? Are they Top Tier? And about the Shell V-Power 91 vs Petro/Sunoco 94 + 10% ethonal. I have debated this as well. Even made a poll on here some time ago comparing the two asking what others would fill up. I think Shell won the poll but not by much. I wish Shell had 92 or 93 oct of pure gas available by me! |

You're not getting the point..... I can pull into a shell, esso or even a pioneer for that matter and fill up tank with out having to pre-pay. For some reason a certain sunoco station wouldn't authorize the pump. We're talking about 1 in the afternoon, not 1 in the morning
Anyways, I'm glad they're gone. I use Shell 91 V-power these days. I'm not a big fan of ethanol anyways. |
