STL/MO how to pass emissions/inspection with mods?

How do people in STL/MO deal with the emissions testing if you have deleted cats or supercharged? I've never really had a clear answer other than to convert back to stock for the test. A little rough to do with a SC...

MO stopped testing cars as old as my RX-7 was so I put it out of my mind.

Thanks!

I'm interested in this. I may have to move to MO/KS in the near future.

When the time comes, I'm just going to put the Stock X-pipe back on. I know of a shop that does "Fast Pass"... but you still can't have check engine light on... When the time comes, i may go to them and see if it'll pass with my delete-R... not sure.

I think and luckily for me if I have to move there, the county does not have smog checks. Are safety inspections just to make sure that the car is ok or do they scrutinize non-factory parts?

Basically if they see any semblance of a catalytic converter you are good to go.

Is that assuming that you are in a county that requires smog or is that indicative of anywhere?

I think everywhere requires an inspection and they will check to make sure you have cats. They don't have to be working, but they have to be there.

They don't do Smog anymore in the MO... it's just OBD2 check and the visual inspection... If you don't have Cats, you can go to some place and ask for Fast Pass... they might do it... THat's what this shop in St. Louis does. They charge you 75$ for everything but it's in and out.

I like that idea. When did smog stop? According to the DMV site, it is still active.

For cars 1996 and after, it's only obd2 plug... they do some scanning, make sure there are no faults and all the Emission stuff is operational.

We use to have that Gateway Clean Air program that acted like a Dyno with plugs for exhaust... however after number of engines getting damaged by people forgetting to turn the fans on or something, they canceled the program.

Cars before 1996 only require safety, cars after do the emissions and safety... but it's only that obd2 plug check thing.

It's based on zip code. I've lived in the STL area for 11 years and never had to do an emissions test.
