I think your confused as Mike would never recommend such a silly thing. Maybe your referring to the cold start rev limit which is either 4 or 4.5k until the car is warm. You don't have to launch the car to check where its set. Just 1) come to a complete stop 2) hold the brake in mash the pedal 3) see where it revs to a settles at. Its either 3k or 3.5k

On a side note any chance your the same Sully for e46fanatics? I used to be one there all the time when I had my ZHP.

Thank You, Yup SSII heres a couple more pics, i have a Revinora R-CRT Street Chin 1x1 CF but im not sure i want to be drilling holes to mount it, i test fit it and it would look great tho.

Thanks for posting those. Man, SSII really is the best color. And I say that as someone who loves Space Gray. SSII is at least three colors in one: gray, a faint blue, silver . . . .

Thanks man, it's from JL-Motoring. The price was reasonable and the quality was great. The fitment was a bit off but this was something nobody could see unless I pointed it out.

You are correct - 4.5k rpm is the cold start-up rpm limit

Raise the rpm limit!! I did it, along with the top-speed limiter, and the increased rev limit, combined with my 3.62 diff, is a blast to drive! When I drive my wife's car, which has the stage II tune but stock rev limit and diff, I hit the rev limiter because I'm used to the extra rpm...

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to. My only fear is broadcasting to the dealer that I am (was) tuned in the event of warranty work.

The 3.62 diff is a monster choice. I was thinking about the 3.45.

Take into account that your not making more HP at the higher RPM, and even at the stock setting your RPM probably go's higher then you think, Mike told me my Highest RPM was like 8585 RPM even tho im set a the stock 8300, so if you set your RL to 8600 you'll probably hit close to 8800 RPM!

I'm glad you said that. I could have sworn I went above 8400 (about 8500) on a run up to 120 mph the other day and wondered if my rev limit actually had been raised. I was pretty sure he hadn't and thought maybe it has some built in "cushion" already. Sounds like my instincts were right.

So did you stay at 8400, Mike? Are you still governed at 150 mph?

Edit: It's OT, but I forgot to ask earlier: What tire/spacer/suspension setup do you have, Mike?

Yah i stayed stock which is 8300 i think, it mite be 8400 cant remember, i Did have Mike remove the speed limiter, cant wait till i have a Safe chance to open her up again like i did last weekend up north, when there was no one around.

I have No spacers, that is the Stock ZCP suspension, tho i thinkn about adding 12mm rear and 15mm front spacers if them sizes wont rub.

When i asked mike about removing cold start and raising rev limit with regards to warranty he said if your worried about it voiding the warranty then don't do it.

Yes launch is set at 3500 in my tune, cold start limit is set to 4500. My mistake. I'm on e46fanatics forum, but same screen name as here (sully1time)

Yup.. I had mike set my rpm to 8600 and I actually hit 8800 idk if I should be happy about it?! I think I might set it to stock again..

Main thing Dealers look at come engine failure is RPM.

Mike Benvo did the freezeframe during coding and I hit over 8700 rpm stock, and soon after I had my differential bolt snap and diff nearly fell out of the car, someone from BMW NA looked at the car, looked at the ECU (had ESS tune at the time with stock rev limit and I flashed back to stock), saw zero issues and covered under warranty. Bottom line is I don't think the rev limit (stock or otherwise) is a huge deal in terms of warranty coverage within certain allowances. Ask Dinan, ESS, Evolve, BPM how many warranty issues they've encountered with customers with something not being covered.

The stock limiter is on my car and coding recorded a top RPM of 8600. It happens mostly on down shifts during very aggressive driving. Time stamp confirmed it happened before I bought it.
