2011 M3 Extended Warranty

As some of you may know that I am getting a MCB E92 this August. I want your opinion / suggestion on the BMW extended warranty. Basically, I can get 2 additional years and 120,000 kms on top of standard 4 year / 80,000 km warranty for $6,000 even. I will be owning the car as oppose to leasing and plan to keep it for at least for 6-7 years (2018). I have attached the pdf showing rate chart for each model

As far as mods are concerned, I am only planning to upgrade the exhaust and possibly Dinan carbon fiber intake. It is a pity that for M models it is a lot more and only for 6 years as oppose to 7 years. Do you think it is worth it?

How many kms do you plan on driving? And only by the right amount of kms. The lower the kms you can reduce costs.

I would wait until just before your warranty expires... You never know what could happen between now and then that would put you in a position to negotiate a free extended warranty!

My quote went up significantly after 12 months of ownership, iirc.

Don't we all say we're going to keep our cars 7-10 years and end up changing things up way sooner? I know that'll probably be the case for me!

$6000 for an extended 2 yr/200,000 km warranty seems crazy high. I recently added a 2 yr/120,000 BMW warranty ( when I bought my 2010 used) for under $2000. If you have a choice and don't think you'll drive more than 20K a year, I'd check out prices for the 2yr/120k option !!

I think you are right. The premium is being charged because it is a "BMW" warranty as oppose to third party. I was in the U.S. before and third party companies are horrible to deal with. They always come up with a way in order to avoid paying. If you had a good experience in Canada, can you tell me the name of the company from which you got 2 yr / 120,000 kms?

Thats ridiculous... i would definitely wait. You can also shop around and buy the extended warranty from ANY BMW dealer and it's honored at any dealership.

The warranty I added was the BMW CPO warranty through a dealer on the easy coast...an extra 2 yrs or 120,000 km for under $2000.
