Ordered another E92, having 2nd thoughts.

I recently ordered a 2013 Mineral white E92 manual to replace my 2011 Jetblack DCT and now Im having 2nd thoughts!

For the most part I like my car. As seen here...

But Ive never owned a manual V8 car which is sometime I would like to have. I just worry that if I get it, It might feel like a downgrade from the DCT.

I also have a love hate relationship with my jet black paint. It looks awesome when clean. But its a PITA. So I ordered mineral white/ FR this time around, but Im starting to think that grow tired of the mineral white considering 8/10 M3s are white. My wife thinks Im crazy to dump my black m3 with two tone interior for a white one with fox red only interior. She thinks MW/FR combo is "candy cane" looking...LOL.

Ive been going back and forth on this and its driving me nuts. Keep my 2011 DCT M3 with 17K on it or sell it and get a mineral white 2013 manual Anyone have any thoughts or simular experiance? I just cant make up my mind!

Why did you get a new car of the same thing seems like a waste of money? You must lease?

Me either I pay cash. I have jet black and yes I hate it. I originally wanted white but I got such a smoking deal I couldn't say no. I grew up racing cars at a professional level and don't miss the stick. DCT is also clutch (pun intended) for traffic.

Is FR fox red? If so gross. I don't get why people do these fugly interiors. I had a 993tt (when new) with special silver and red interior which was OK, but I never really liked it and made it more difficult to sell IMHO. I wouldn't buy another car interior other than black. I've had grey as well, and you could see the wear more AND sometimes belts transfer marking the material making it look dirty.

I don't see the sense in it. If you were going to change to something other than another M3...maybe. But not just to go from black to white.

if nothing is wrong with your car now, if it's been problem free since you owned it, I wouldn't make the switch

Yea the JB is a bitch to own. Its by far the worst black car Ive ever had to deal with. The paint is just to soft.

I like DCT alot, but I do miss simply rowing the gears how I see fit.

Yes, FR is fox red. I thought about doing all black interior on the white one, but it just looks so bland to me. I currently have black interior with the fox red two tone and I think it looks nice.

I figured if I was going to spend the money, I might as well do as many changes as possible to justify the purchase. The more I discuss this with you, the more Im starting to feel like I should just supercharge my car instead!!!

WOO HOO! LOL.

Having driven manual 6speeds for the past 15 yrs I also miss the manny! DCT is awesome and very fast but I feel like I have more control/fun with the old stick.

I really don't think you can go wrong trying it out. MW is a beautiful color and the interior Fox Red is my favorite, but please don't use other peoples tastes and opinions over your own. Its gonna be your car so F*ck what anyone else says.

I have a friend with a purplish/blue 997.1 GT3 and I think its god aweful but its his favorite color. I don't bash him because its what he likes.

At the end of the day, you will have the latest and greatest (and probaby last) V8 M3 made! If you dont like it, im sure you can swap it back for a DCT with a minor loss $.

I drove a AW with MT then another Blue with MT ... traded the AW with MT in since it was a basic no Navi no other options for the full loaded Blue with MT.

Then wife wanted to go to one car (since then changed her mind) so I traded to a fully loaded AW with DCT.

I must admit my blue one was a PITA to keep clean so I went back to AW. Further I must admit I do prefer the DCT to the MT. Just my 2 cents. Our DD is close to the Mineral White you are talking about Mercedes calls it #650 CALCITE WHITE it is nicer looking then my AW ,,, there is a side by side picture in my DD garage if you like to compare. I have to admit my white cars stay clean longer still I wash them every week My next toy might just be red ... time will tell

I agree with you on the fun and control factor. I do miss manual for that exact reason.

And I dont care what people think. I do value hearing a solid opinion, but Im going to do what Im going to do. I just have decision making issues. I flip flop a lot.

Getting the last V8 M3 in manual was one of my reasons for doing this to begin with. It would be a rare car to own!

You are definitely going to be disappointed with the difference in acceleration. Dct's shorter gears and immediate shifts contribute a pretty big difference in speed from the manual. I had both. But once you get over (if you get over) the performance difference, you will enjoy rowing through the gears in the manual. I miss my m3 and gt3 for that reason.

What part of OC are you from. I think ive seen your car rolling around town. Im in Irvine near the District.

Tons of M3s in Irvine, I have 3 neighbors with M3s in my community. However, Not too many modded M3s, on a relative basis, so they stand out.

Colors are personal preference, so I'll leave that alone. As for the transmission, the M3 seems to be built around this DCT, and it fits the characteristics of the car very well. All the newer generation sports cars and super cars are using it and for a good reason, performance. If you miss driving a manual, use the price difference to get a 2nd car that is built around a manual transmission.

Very good point! Get a older 997.1 GT3 Manual. I love the porsche manual tranny, best in the world.

I would hold tight with what you have until the 2014's came out ...then maybe consider switching it up.

I do not understand why some people think their opinion is holds more merit as the OPs. After all you are the one driving and paying for the car.
Switching from auto to 5 speed is a major difference. The paint is just a plus.
I have jb and its the worst colour to keep clean. I have spend hours on polishing and paint correction and waxing. Not to mention a daily wash. Friend of mine has the white m3 and its effortless to keep it lOOKing clean. But at the same time you are right. Every second m3 is white.

Good choice my friend...but I'm biased on that color combination. Looks bitchen with lots of carbon accents.

I can't comment on the transmission as I've never driven a 6MT M3. But I have been a passenger in a 420 RWHP 6MT e92 M3 with a great driver. This particular driver had great control of the car at its absolute limit. I'm not as good of a driver...but if I was, I would have considered the MT.
