Some people dislike the looks of coupes (me included). So this makes sense even if he has removed the functionality of having back seats...

So much hate in this thread lol. Even if I had a sedan people would never sit in the back so its a moot point arguing about the cage. Who cares guys, it looks amazing and the guy put his heart and soul in the project. Keep it up Felix.

Thanks Rob, also I would like to point out how correct you are. I have never had anything or anything on that backseat it was literally pointless so I decided to go with a cage and now by having doors back there it's easier to show the cage haha

I think it is a great job on the build...for all the peeps who are hating on it, it's no big deal...let them think what they want. The OP wanted to do something different, in HIS own taste and design, supported and helped by IND, and he got what he wanted...that is the bottom line...like it, hate it, love it...he doesn't care! It is his car.

Powerbeast...well done, well played, keep it up.

The fact that they're race-inspired doesn't necessarily make them great. They're just too odd and out-of-place looking on a street car. It's a similar concept to huge wings on the back of cars - a wing can look great on a DTM car, but not so much on a street vehicle.

Yep. The point of my post was to try to foster a discussion like this, as I don't really understand the idea behind taking a practical and spending a lot of money to make it impractical. It seems to me that you'd be better of with an Exige or similar. The whole spirit of the M3 is that you can have a hell of a machine without making the sacrifices that the mods in this vehicle have made.

But, rather than polite dissent and discussion, I suspect the majority of posts addressing my point will be just saying that I'm "wrong," or a "hater," or whatever. Without pointing fingers or trying to start any fights, I've noticed that a large number of posters on here seem to be quite immature - I still don't understand how so many of them manage to afford vehicles that are well outside the grasp of the general public.

Let's just applaud his efforts on creating such a unique M3.

I think it is pointless to bring up subjective matters in this thread especially pertaining to cost and practicality. The is the OP's expression of what he wants the car to be, period.

lol Get out of my head! I could just hug you for putting those words together so perfectly.

Hate is me saying "This car is shit, looks like shit, performs like shit, and it sucks". That is hate.

Critique is me saying that "Yes, the car looks beautiful, however, the modifications done (mostly the cage) has ruined the purpose of a sport sedan. Putting 'motorsport designed' mirrors on a street car is asinine and only contributes to the look of the car, not the function." That is critique.

This car belongs in a Fast & Furious movie. It plays on the appeal of having the unrealistic and impracticable 'street race car'.

Think about it like this, an M3 sedan -roughly $60k, these mods and labor -estimate $50k give or take... now you're in $110k for a picture car that you cant street race or track race. Personally, I would've picked up an R8 for that price, but that's just me.

BMW Motorsport names its colors according to cities around the world that have famous race tracks or racing heritage.

Examples:

Imola Red - Imola, Italy
Estoril Blue - Estoril, Portugal
Silverstone - Silverstone, England
Dakar Yellow - Dakar, France
Daytona Purple - Daytona, FL, USA
Interlagos Blue - Interlagos, Sao Paulo, Brazil
Kyalami Orange - Kyalami, South Africa
Sepang Bronze - Sepang, Malaysia
Monaco Blue - Monaco, France
Laguna Seca Blue - Laguna Seca, California, USA
LeMans Blue - LeMans, France
Avus Blue - Avus, Berlin, Germany

There are a few which are not attached to any city such as:
Alpine White
Sapphire Metallic Black
Cosmos Black
Space Gray
Boston Green <- I dont know of any motorsport heritage in Boston
Artic Silver
Techno-Violet
Titanium Silver

I may be missing some.. feel free to contribute.

There is a like button - at the bottom of the first post.
