Question on Brembo...
All hi! I want to put brembo on my BMW ///M3!
I want to put in front wheels of 380 mm. How mm, install on the rear wheels? 345 or 380 mm? Thanks in advance. |

If you are doing 380 front then do 380 rear. You need to make sure they will clear the wheel though. If you are tracking I see some people using the smaller size due to using 18" track wheels and tires. Good luck!

That is what I have and am running 380/380. You will have no issues.

Why? Rear can easily cope with 345 mm. Just more weight with 380 mm at rear. Front 380 mm is fine although 365 mm seems to work very well & you can use 18" wheels for more flexibility in tyre selection.

355mm rear or whatever Brembo has close to that size. the bulk of your breaking is done by the fronts. 380mm rear is a waste. i have 380/355 stoptech.

Either way is fine, it's just that the 380 rear may be a bit overkill and would just be an extra outlay without the added utility. I run 384/370 on my Alcons and have replaced my front rotors twice and countless pad changes, but my rears are still on original rotors and go through about 4 sets of front pads before I go through the rears. Get the 380 if you'd like, just realize the upside is mostly form not function as this is a front brake eating car.

I have to agree that 80% of the braking is done in the front but if you are going to go with a Brembo 380 front why would you not go with a 380 rear? You can always go with the smaller front and rear caliper and run 18's if that is what you are looking to do.
As for Stoptech the 355mm is the biggest you can get in rear the last time I checked. I bet if they did have a 380mm rear they would be on your car . Just having fun with you. My opinion is to do what you like as you have to live with it.

FYI you can run 18" wheels with 380mm. You just need to be sure to buy a compatible wheel. See this thread for some of the options:

Due extra unsprung weight. There is absolutely no need for 380 mm rears and if you replace brakes just for look sacrifacing performance, ok, go for it. I suppose money is no issue for you, but 380 mm is more expensive also.

380 mm rears are only $100 more...

To be honest there is nothing wrong with the OEM brakes either. I would say a good percentage of people replace the brakes for both looks and added stopping benefit. We all have different opinions so in the end it will be up to Alex-R-1 to figure out what is best for him.
As far as money being an issue this is about Alex-R-1 and not me.

If you care about bling bling, get 380/380. Otherwise, 365/345 or 380/345 will work just fine. If you look at the rotor weights, 380 and 365 fronts are basically the same. And 365 has less rotating inertia...

Exactly. And it shoud not be underestimated the meaning on rotating inertia. Just basic physics. 380 mm rear is useless and the difference in inertia is clear vs 345 mm. I drive track and focus on performance. Showcars are the different thing.
