330D E90 Cutting out whilst driving

I'm hoping someone can shed some light onto this for me.

I have a 330D, 55 plate which over the past 3 days has cut out whilst traveling between 60 - 80mph. I just seem to loose all acceleration, have to wack on the hazards and drift hoping nothing is going to whack me!.

Once the engine is off and key removed it starts perfectly but then feels lumpy, sluggish and unresponsive. Like it's suddenly having to think about what its doing and is suddenly carrying more weight if you know what I mean.

The first time it happened within minutes of each other, yesterday fine and car felt better then again today. Having to noticeably put my foot down harder to accelerate from roundabouts etc and seem to have lost the "head jolt" when putting foot to the floor.

Unfortunately, i was so focused on trying to stop safely that I failed to notice what rev counter was doing or if anything strange or any light appeared during the failure but nothing that caught my eye.

Any ideas?

My guess is water contamination of the fuel. Change fuel filter, dump fuel if you can and run a fresh tank of fuel, you might even consider running some B5 if you can find it....

Did you get an error message? It almost sounds like your car went into limp mode.

If it did throw an error, go to the dealer to get it read out.

Hi, I had the car put through a Non BMW garage today for diagnostics and it only found one error code which related to a faulty glow plug and I was informed that this would not effect the car whilst actually driving.

I am having a full service on the car on Thursday and getting all the filters etc changed so just have to hope it does not happen again.

B5 is Bio Diesel 5%. There are allot of good things in running 5% bio. Bio will clean and lube the fuel system. If there are deposits on the valves and pistons it will clean those too.
