Extended Warranty Offer
I was able to get a quote for an extended warranty to 84 months/80000 KM total (whichever comes first) for $2000. I have one year left on the original warranty and the car has only 19000 KM so I figure adding that extra 3 years for only 2K is a good move and especially for resale later on. It's through a BMW dealership but we're going with one of the private companies they highly recommend and is their top of the line coverage with 0 deductible.
What do you guys think? |

If it is not from BMW itself do not even think about it!3rd party warranties are bad news and this is from a person who is in the industry!

Coverage One by GMAC. It's their Ultimate plan and covers everything. It is also fully refundable at any point pro-rated so if they don't cover something I can always get my money back. They come highly recommended by the dealer and even suggested it over the BMW warranty!

I think it depends on how much your dealer is willing to go to bat for you, some plans stink and other plans work, depends on the company and so forth.
For example...I think Zurich is terrible... |

The aftermarket programs usually call for more stringent service than the manufactures do or it is void and when claims happen they try to weasel out of the claims.Even the manfactures extended warranties have there own issues. They are not the same as the manufactures orginial warranty.Buyer beware!

I own a premium and sports car dealership and sell Coverage One warranties. They are actually very good and are the only one I feel comfortable offering. They allow you to do warranty work at your place of choice and pay directly to the repair shop. They have an excellent reputation.
The price you were quoted is pretty good, but there is still a bit of wiggle room...

I am in the same boat as you. You live in Calgary true?
Perhaps we can get group pricing as I may be interested as well. My 08 has 14000 km |

Just talked to Lovelyn. Essentially the answer is no. The deal I got is because of my long term business with this place. This particular plan retails for $2620 and she gave it to me for $2000 for the Coverage One Ultimate plan but is unable to match that for someone else let alone discount it more even with a group buy. Sorry guys. No PMs about this please. |

There will always be skeptics with third party warranties.
The Coverage One Ultimate warranty is an excellent warranty and is sold by many BMW and higher end vehicle dealers across the country for that reason. In terms of maintenance requirements, they require the owner to do the maintenance defined in the vehicle owner's manual, nothing additional. You can do the maintenance at any repair facility, or even by yourself, as long you keep receipts for the parts and keep a repair log. They have been around a long time and pay promptly. When a car is brought to a repair facility (selected by the owner), the repair facility calls Coverage One with an estimate and once approved (very quickly) they are paid by Coverage One via credit card. They will also cover properly imported US cars if the car still under manufacturer warranty. Need to get approval in advance for these, with a recent CARPROOF report and confirmation of proper import. The prices on the warranties are also very reasonable, especially if you go with a $100 or $200 deductible. If anyone wants any additional info, shoot me a PM or email (mark@griffinmotors.ca). Happy to help.

Have you asked BMW for the warranty they offer on their CPO cars? I am new to Canada but in the U.S., any customer can purchase that warranty that is 2 years and 40,000 km on top of your 4 year, 80,000 km.
