Wow, mid september. if that is true, that seems a bit late to me. maybe it'll be fixed with 09 models then?

Tim, that must have been really disturbing; especially w/ your child in the back.

I'm watching DCT developments closely as am, starting to question the benefits (latest tech, response) vs costs (complexity).

THe more I read these threads the more I realize how much my decision to wait from an 09 was the right choice.

This could result in a serious lawsuit to BMW if its not fixed soon and someone get in a serious accident.

Very scary stuff, and very frustrating after spending $70K on a car. I'm not convinced that problems such as these will all be resolved in September.

Haha - I stalled my MT once. so apprently this flaw is designed to give you the true MT experience!

Ohh, S3 or lower would seem to be a exponentially greater problem the lower setting your in.

From what i can try to decider about the M-DCT, the full clutch release is somehow determined by actual wheel speed? (A complete and utter guess, i'm no gear- head)

In MT the driver releases the clutch and allows for appropriate throttle. For the DCT to be in a high setting it is expecting the throttle value to be opened wider, so if your stopped or slowed (no throttle at all) it stalls. Lower settings are compensated for this. So if this happen say immediately after start, god forbid, GG's big big issue.

Example: LC (S6), go straight to 5500 rmp ftw

Wow this is a complete guess and probably shouldn't be talking.

I think I was in S2 or 3 when the car stalled. Sounds good to me, but no matter what anybody here on the forum thinks, BMW will never tell us the real cause of the problem except to say it is a software problem.

I am hoping they fix the software problems ASAP, so all of us who are having these kind of things happen can talk about how great the car is instead

Remember, there are other issues like my transmission malfunction warning light coming on at the same time as the stalling.

The dealer want's the loaner car back tommorrow, and have to figure out what to do for a car until the new one comes in OCT.

any ideas?

I know, torque converter and all. Not similar in the slightest. Just felt like venting out the fact that my Step's fucked me over so many times lately.

Thanx a lot Scott~!!!
I just talked to my dealer here in Vancouver and they said that since my car will be the first shipment for DCT in BC (other than those demos for dealers), so they haven't experienced that yet
Scary...hope I won't be the first one to get that problem here, else I don't know how long it will take for Canada to have the "software" problem fixed

Hope it only happens to a few cars...else I will be dead ~LOL~

Do keep me posted, thanx a lot

I reported it to my CA and he is looking into it, etc, etc. I told him there is supposedly an update coming in September. As usual, this board seems to know more than the dealerships, but by forwarding him the info I learn here, I hope to get them on track! I will report any news....

I was told today by my dealer that there has been only 15 cars total that has had this problem reported to BMW.

I was also told that they are still looking at mid Sept before they will have a software fix for the problem.

Yeah, scared the hello out of me! Especially because my 6 year old was in the car! If I had a 6MT, it would be no biggie as it would be totally my fault. But with the DKG, you can't do a damn thing about it. If it stalls, it is the cars fault! lol Damn car! I musta pissed it off.....Gonna go buy it a latte later and give her a nice waxing.
