I never buy a car for presence or status and don't give a rat's ass about other people's admiring glances. I simply don't get people who care about these things.

Why would a black look riced out? In that case I suppose M models are the same as well... I'd take that Black over ANY bmw or other Merc

You must need the room because the X6M is an incredibly lazy shifter (and a lot slower than the Mercedes).
I have had many P cars, all of them GT2 and 3s

While I had these, I drove a Cayenne Turbo as a DD

Times got tough and I went to an M3 for a DD which is great for the money

Times got even tougher so the P cars went and I got a new DCT M last year as a DD

The ESS S/C was the best thing I ever did to teh car, and it drove and handled better than any car I owned previously, (with all bolt ons)

I now am thinking to go back to an SUV with lots of grunt as a DD, as the M3 is not very practical with two kids.

Its either a Cayenne Turbo or X6M

I test drove the X6M and I really am impressed.

The C63 BS was an alternative to the M3 as I feel its more mature, and I have never owned a MB.

After driving it, although its a nice car, I am not overly impressed with it (considering it has the same suspension and brakes as my bolt ons M3, but the gearbox is very pedestrian and unimpressive.

For the money compared to an stock M3, its performs ony slightly worse, and is 70% more expensive.

Just don't see the value in that

Plus they strip it down to bear balls, no back seats and its stll heavier than a stock M3 which is still heavy at 1650kgs!!

For the money, a used GT3 RS with 3000kms on it would be a better buy, hell even a used 997 GT2 would be slightly more $$$

Based on this, I want to jump ship completely and the X6M seems like the right move?

Was that just a typo? Did you drive a straight C63? Or a CLK63 Black Series?
And if it is a CLK63 Black Series, they were only produced in 08 and should be fairly reasonably priced used.
As far as X6Ms are concerened they're nice but they're still a heavy SUV that can't be compared to a sports car.

i still don't feel the black look as good as some make it out to be. i mean if you look at this picture, there is nothing striking except for the fender flair. other than that, it looks just like any other amg model.

i have not seen it in real life, but based on picture so far i'm not impressed.

now the rarity, I understand.

I really don't get that. It looks better than an M3(which I think in coupe form looks great). When I decided to dump my Black Series for my Nissan people thought I was mad. Everyone thought the Merc was the best looking car I have owned.

looks are subjective.
I still think the BS looks better than GTR. I think the Turbo 911 looks better than the other two. I think RS4 looks better than E90 M3, blah blah blah, it's subjective.

Then I guess talking about how it looks is pointless, right?

Gear changes are slow as hell but it does have some grunt though.
Chassis is stiffer and heavier than the M even with KW coil overs, steering feels heavy, just shit, and worst of all ESS cant supercharge it.

Compared to my ESS VT2 600 M3 there is no comparison.

They have a 2005 DTM with 1800 miles on it to test drive this week. Will let you all know how that compares.

I think X6M is where I'm going, my M3 goes to its new owner next week, so the decision time is near

Hm, the space shuttle x6M instead of a MB Black Series...
Of course!
