Probably an audio edit to help the viewer decipher the two different cars . The M3 sounds raw while the Z4 sounds advanced and refined. In reality the two cars will sound slightly different from the tweaks the factory have made but you'd have to have a good ear to notice the difference.

Can somebody explain the tire side please?

300in is the width. the next number is measurement for the tire's sidewall, which is the percentage of the tire's width.
So, according to my calculation, the tire's sidewall is 2,040in tall. WTH?!?! *confused*
That's for DOT tires, not slicks.

Also guys, Z4 GT3 and Z4 GTE are greatly different at this point. The preparation rules are different, and it almost creates $200k difference in the bill, GTE being higher. Think of 911 GT3 R or Cup vs. the 911 GT3 RSR...RSR is manically wider.

Why is the new Z4 GTE 4.4 litre 480 hp instead of 4.0 litre 500 hp fitted previously in the M3 GT?

Because it's the current engine of the Z4 GT3 (515ps max), as the GTE is a modified version of the GT3.

So BMW doesn't have an excuse. They want to go to an all FI lineup in the showrooms, then have some balls and run it at the track now.

Other brands should take advantage of all the waivers BMW got. Benz should convert their SLS GT3 over to GTE spec.
The stock engine does not have a direct linkage to the fuel supply secondary to the direct injection and turbo systems which would not be allowed with the rules, and dual scrolls (basic explanation) are out and the valvetronic system would need to remain stock... The situation is complicated and is why there is no way BMW could enter a turbo under the current rules (why Porsche doesn't etc.) these rules will be altered by ACO/ALMS moving forward as someone involved with it all explained to me. I'd take these rules with a grain of salt

Corvette and Viper's also have waivers so lets not just say BMW does.

The M3 had larger surface area so was allowed more HP.

Concessions will be made to assist brands to run FI if they choose. They will need the help to compete against the big displacement normally aspirated competition. Even if BMW ran a FI setup now, they would get their asses handed to them by the competition.

There is no reason to go FI in a series that regulates power output. If you can make your HP normally aspirated, it is much more reliable for endurance racing. Porsche is more than happy running NA and will with the 991 in competition. They are known for their reliability, especially at the 24hrs.

Are they running two extra cylinders? Terrible analogies if you ask me.

BMW M should've made the Z4M limited production version (like 1M)
This Z is one of the most beautiful BMWs ever made, really sad to let this one go without the M version.

Great looking car. Am extremely offended though that "Stance Works" is taking photos of it. that name should not be anywhere near this car.

Wait, you don't like the coverage because the photographer's company is called stance works? These guys have been personally invited by BMW to cover ALMS numerous times not only because their work is in a league of their own, but because they have a deep enthusiasm for the company. You should really check out their work before you judge them. Of course they know this car isn't "stanced".

EDIT: they don't just shoot "stanced" cars btw... its just a company name
