finally got me

Well I've had my M almost a year and I finally got a fix-it citation. I’m not complaining about the two violations I knew I had (window tent on front side windows, and no front DMV issued license plate. I don’t think he liked my “ca euro plate”.), but I think the modified tail lights violation is absurd. I have DEPO’s and I double checked and they have DOT stamped in them. Has anyone else in Ca had a fix-it citation for non factory tail lights?

I noticed the CHP turn on his emergency lights to cross the intersection and make a left turn a block ahead of me while I was waiting in the left turn lane, but I had no idea the show was just to catch me on the next cross street after I made me left turn. He must have been hard up to write a ticket, he even smiled as he handed me the citation to sign. Asked if I had any questions, then walked away fast as he could.

He walked away ASAP with his smile because he knew that he had just given a citation to someone who worked in federal law enforcement.

That is absurd. Did you show your ID and he still gave you the ticket? I show my CAC and usually they give me a warning...

No I don't show my creds...that's badgeing, and that's illegal. I do have blocked plates, and because of that he asked me what agency I work for.

What the hell have you done to your car??? Sounds like you made a whole new car from aftermarket bits

Could you find any more bits to change?

If he knew by your plates your were a cop type person would he not have given you a warning or ignored the ridiculous things he noticed by using his incredible eyesight (?).

What is wrong with the lights?

Some states/countries have some idiotic rules. What is wrong with the lights officially?

Hope the cops over here in Texas don't pull me over for no front license plate, 20% tint, and the full catless exhaust that I'm about to get....

If you are a fed officer then can't you just write off your own "fix it" tickets?? Im sure if you walked into court wearing your badge in an official capacity the judge would laugh first and dismiss all together second.

Better yet, you should just stop by the CHP officer's station (wearing your credentials of course in a official capacity) ask for the shift supervisor and compliment him on his officers tenacity for giving such petty violations to another officer then thank him and say that you hope you can return the courtesy to his department someday... Now that would be funny

That would be the reason there are bad cops... Like the one who pulled him over.

When he asked you what agency you work for you should have said, "Internal Affairs." While looking at his badge number.

Some of your comments are pretty funny, I had my 14yr old in the car with me and he asked me why was I getting a ticket and the only thing that could come to my mind is, because he is an A-hole.

No but seriously, do you guys think I would have a problem if I were to attach the front plate to the honeycomb? Would it cause less engine cooling by being in front of the radiator?

I have mine mounted to my tow hook, bought the kit from gominigo.com. Don't have to drill holes that way. But even if you choose to attach it in front of the grills, I don't think it would have much if any effect on the cooling system/radiator.
