KW Variant 1?

Just saw V1's on the TMS website. I didn't know this variant was available for our cars? I thought it was just V3 and Clubsports.

Anyone have experience with these???

Looks like a new part. Never existed before. That's great there are more suspension options now.

This is a new part released by KW for the E90/92 M3. These kits are due to arrive in North America in 2-3 weeks time. As a result there is not a lot of experience with the product. Generally speaking the Variant 1 is an entry level product that is only adjustable in height.

Interesting. I wonder why KW would release this after end of E92 production.

Because people buying these cars at 30-50k have different budgets than people buying them at 65-90k.

Yes, we will see more lower cost products coming out soon. Also a flood of cheap generic parts. Happens with every mass produced car as they get older.

That is tough to say as we are not intimate with KW's business practices behind their product however, as a chassis nears the end of its life-cycle you will typically see more aftermarket support. This can be due to many factors, but the common reasons are vehicles coming out of warranty as well as the increase in 2nd and 3rd owners of the vehicle in question. These are just a couple reasons why a manufacturer might consider doing this.

I remember speaking to a few KW representatives a few years ago at a Formula D event.

I asked about the availability of V1/V2 coilovers for the M3. They said the V3 was their lowest end product for the M3 and there were no plans for a V1. Instead they referred me to their adjustable spring kit.

I guess their plans changed.

Exciting news. I don't track my car so I don't need the functionality that the V3s bring and would live sometime more comfortable than the Sleeve Over kit..the V1's should do the trick

Yeah I'm interested to see what EDC mode the stiffness feels like.

I wonder how many non-track V3 owners actively change the settings on their shocks??

Even people who do track don't change suspension settings much. There are a lot of other things to concentrate on rather than suspension settings.

Also, it is a pain to crawl under the car to change settings and/or take apart the trunk liner to get to the adjusters.

The adjustability is there to allow the car to be set up the way people like it. After that initial adjustment, I doubt many people change it.

I change my suspension settings every time I track the car. My track settings are far stiffer than my street settings. Most people cut holes in their trunk liner to make adjustments easy.

I bought these used off a member and will be installing them this coming weekend. I'm by no means a expert on suspension, but I'll chime in with my opinion when they're on

I just got mine installed... Needless to say I am very low in my opinion but this of course is what I requested. In terms of ride feel, I can say I feel more planted and the ride is definitely more stiffer compared to a HAS kit on stock shocks. These are all pros in my preference of the feeling of the car. I will post some pics up in the coming weeks maybe shorter as I plan on putting a different set of wheels on.

We have installed this kit for many of our customers. No complaints at all.
