How meticulous are you?
Hey,
This thread is for my wife to read! Its annoying to her that I don't drive it in the rain, I still wash it once a week and that I plan on keeping it garaged in the winter. I woke up last Sunday at 6:15 am and hadn't driven my car for a while so I backed it out of the garage and started washing it. She comes out the door and says what the hell are you doing? "uh washing my car..." She said I'm obsessed and called me psycho. I keep telling her that there are people out there worse than me. So Please post some of your "i'm so obsessed I......" story's so she can read them. I know your out there! |

I drive it everyday, rain or sunshine, wash it every other week.
It's meant to be driven. You paid that much to keep it inside. I'm sure it'll be more clean than mine, but I'll have more smiles racked up in my life. I bought it to drive. No secondary car, no gas saver car... it's my one and only <3 LOL

i wash it 3 -4 times a year, twice through touchless, wax 2 times a year. But on the flip side, I don't drive the car everyday and it's in a garage.

I drive mine on and off. I have another car that I drive during bad weather, but if it's raining and I happen to be out in the M3 or going out for something a bit special I won't get bent out of shape. A little rain doesn't hurt. Snow is a different story, but depends on what kind of snow. I'm too cheap to get a winter setup, but it doesn't snow enough here to really be necessary.
My biggest thing is putting the seat all the way back when I get in and out... Trying to save that bolster from wearing...

Not washing-related but maybe obsessive:
When I get in and out of the car I take extra care to lift myself on and off the seat to preserve the leather rather than slide on it. Also, if I'm not using the GPS or listening to music, I put the iDrive on the home screen with the first entry (CD/Multimedia) selected because it's the darkest screen and the least distracting. |

Sounds perfectly normal to me. I do all of the above, except I won't fire up the engine just to wash mine. I would need to do a trip and get the engine up to temp, then wash it and re garage it. |

Yeah my car's not a garage queen either. I'll drive it everyday I can safely. I don't mind driving the G37x with the wife if I need to. I do have a pretty clean car, I don't stick to any strict regimen as it may not look like sh!t after a week, why wash it? If it doesn't look terrible after 2 I'll wait for a 3rd week. The car has a great combo of sealant and wax on it and doesn't require a serious detail every wash. Car Shampoo + Blow dry + quick detailer and SOMEtimes spray wax if its lost its wet look which is rare. I vacuum the carpet even less frequently than I wash the car. Maybe every 3-4 washes i'll do the carpets and take out the air compressor and blow out the interior so there is no dust what so ever.

Your engine is hot and your brakes hot as well and then you wash it? Seems a bit odd. Its a good way to warp your rotors.

I treat all my cars like a daily driver and I drive them hard. To not drive my nice car is like not having sex with my hot girl friend so the next guy will thank me.

I actually spent 2 hours cleaning my windshield last night. 2 hours on just the windsheild! Cleaned it and clay-bar'd it. I also have found my self putting tire shine shit in the inside of the wheel wells. I thought that was pretty crazy of me after I started doing it lol.
On the other hand, I drive my car as much as possible. Ive put 10k on her in 9 months and that isnt even considering that there are weeks at a time where I cant drive her because of heavy snow. Or factoring in the 3 months she was in the shop when some dumbass (me) slid her into a curb sideways during a rain storm. lol.

I was sweating the trip to the airport earlier this week...If the parking ramp was full, I would have had to use the dreaded -- VALET
Nobody drives my baby w/out me in the car...
