Fuel Reserve Warning
Is there any way to easily change when the Fuel Reserve warning comes on? 75-ish miles before being out of glass is a bit much. Effectively, for my driving this is about when i hit 1/4 tank left. My old M3 (2003 coupe) would notify me with 25 miles to go. Frankly, i think that is more reasonable.
Any tips or insight would be appreciated. Can the dealership change this? Thanks -Pesh '09 M3 Convertible |

I actually just got my car coded so that the fuel reserve warning comes on at 1/8th of a tank. You should check to see if anyone local does coding for you.

You can erase it and won't come back until the real warning at 1/8th of a tank kicks in, so it doesn't bother me. Once that second warning shows up, you can only momentarily erase it to check time or something, but it comes right back. And same on iDrive.

Not easily, but there's a way. There's a parameter in the instrument cluster coding called TANK_SCHWELLE_RESERVE which contains the value. Depending on the software version, you can select from 3-4 values, beginning from 6.5 litres (or 0.25ltr steps, if you can do raw coding). I don't recommend changing it though, since these values depend on your engine variant, and are based on previous service experiences (including customer complaints).
