Anyone have a similar problem?

I have a 12/07 build e92 M3 with 48k miles on the odometer. No problems outside of the normal dashboard creeks But everytime I, or the shop, have to reset the service indicator it throws a bunch of codes and goes into limp mode!

The shop just resets it and im on my way, but when it happens at home, im forced to let it sit for approx. 12 hours. At which point, it shows an increased emissions code after starting. The code goes away(everytime) after a drive, usually to the gas station! Probably three times now.

If it threw the codes at start up or during driving, i would suspect a mechanical problem and get it fixed. Im wondering if this may be a software problem, and all i need is the newer software?

Car is pretty near perfect other than that, just wondering if anyone else has had this experience?
