The ship that carried my M3 was Grand Venus. It was almost impossible for me to track it during its time on the sea.

http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=91720 Yep! I was thinking the same thing. I think we are safe. Looks like GV left Jacksonville, but ETA pushed back 4 days (JULY 30th). Zadam does your car go to Hueneme or a port in SD? Last known position... 7/17/08 02:00 Jacksonville |

Tracking the Grand Venus
Quote:
I was watching the Panama Canal webcam this morning, and saw a blue cargo ship coming out of the Miraflores locks, but it's a cargo ship with a bunch of containers on the deck. I read the Grand Venus was scheduled to go through the canal this morning. Check out the webcam here: http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html There's a thread at BimmerFest for European Deliveries (they call it ED LOL...Viva Viagra ) www.portofhueneme.org still shows the Grand Venus is scheduled into port on 7/30, so looks like I'm looking at 8/05 to 8/10 (probably the later date ) I need some patience and I need it NOW. I should be thankful it's coming this soon, since I ordered it the first week of June. There are some people that took European Delivery, got to drive the car for a while and dropped it off in early June and STILL don't have the car. I'm sure it's much tougher if you HAVE the car and then have to give it back and drive your old car for 2+ months. Probably a great experience, but ED is not for me (either one). Pardon me while I go watch paint dry and the grass grow. hehehehe Bob

It's called ED Separation Anxiety, and I have it. It wouldn't be so bad if we knew where the ship is. |

Grand Venus due @ Port Hueneme on 7/30
I just checked the vessel schedule at www.portofhueneme.org and we're still on schedule for 7/30. It appears there are 878 BMWs on this ship. Woo Hoo!!
Funny, someone over at BimmerFest said they watched the ship go thru the Miraflores locks at the Panama Canal on 7/21. It's good to know I'm not the only excited little kid impatiently waiting for their new car. Bob

We have a San Diego sighting from bimmerfest...
So it turns out my timing IS as good as SusieBelle's. On a whim, I decided to drive over the Coronado Bridge from San Diego this afternoon to see if the Grand Venus was anywhere in sight. Sure enough, it was. I caught some photos from Coronado as it was leaving the dock in National City (just south of San Diego) and as it was passing by downtown San Diego heading out of San Diego Bay. It was moving quite fast, so it should be at Port Hueneme tomorrow (only 130 or so miles away). Maybe it's still on the schedule for Wednesday because of limited free berths. Anyway, now I know I'm certifiable. Or maybe since I sold my 325iC yesterday (yay!), I'm just more anxious than ever to get the new car. The Grand Venus is close
Quote:
Did you see the pics of the Grand Venus over at BimmerFest. The ship is HUGE. It's like Noah's Ark for cars. LOL I wonder if there's 2 of everything. If time permits, I might go take pics of the ship over at Port Hueneme tomorrow. It's about 10 miles from me. I was talking to the guys at Borla today and they said they see all the cars get driven to Pacific Vehicle Processing, which is right across the street from them. So, all of our cars will have 2-4 miles on them from being driven from the port to the processing center. Congrats to everyone on their new cars. Bob

Last time I was out that way I saw a parade of Maseratis. It was on Pleasant Valley or Channel Islands. They were being driven very slowly (25 MPH) on the public roads. I was thinking of running out there today also. 800+ BMWs would be a nice parade.
