High Mileage E93 M3, Worth It?

A buddy of mine has a friend who's selling a 2008 E93 M3, Black/Black, Navi, 6MT w/ 120K on the dash. CarFax says it's a 1-owner and corporate vehicle. Clear title, no accidents.

CarFax: http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...WL93548PL89637
AutoCheck: http://www.chilsonwilcox.com/autoche...7#full-history

Is it worth it?

Update:
Did the PPI yesterday on the car, here is the report that came back:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...nResultPDF.pdf

Fault codes that were pulled, how bad are they?

Assuming it has been properly maintained, get a PPI and go for it.

Looking to get a PPI done really soon.

Another buddy of mine recommended to take the car to MrMCar in NJ so I think I'll be taking the car there for the inspection.

I read about needing to replace the rod bearings even if they aren't failing as preventive maintenance. It would probably be a good idea for me to do this as soon as possible if I pick up this car right?

I understand that I probably will need to do my rod bearings for this car especially at this mileage. The going price seem to me ~$2K.

Is it worth it to just get an extended warranty on the car?

I requested a quote from Wanted Auto Protect and it's going to cost me $3,155 for a 5 year extended warranty with 100K on top of my current mileage. This covers everything on the car under the Ultimate plan: http://www.wantedautoprotect.com/whats-covered

I would replace the rod bearings immediately if I purchased M3 with high mileage

The biggest concern is rod bearings, although it doesn't completely correlate with mileage. Bearings have shown problems at lower mileage too.

Good price. Buy it and do the bearings. Done. I always spend money getting a used car to where I want it.

Yeah I'm going to keep rod bearings in mind. There's no abnormal noise from the engine, which is a good sign.

Not sure if the fault codes are really serious.. If anybody can chime in that would be awesome.

Thanks to those who have responded so far.

I would pass on buying it look around there are a lot of m3 up forsale.plus I would spend a little extra and get a 09. I've bought my m3 a year ago and it has over 100k miles and still runs like new it all depends on how it was maintained.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get yours for?

I just found another 08 M3 coupe w/ 81K miles, Black, Red Interior, 6MT and Navi. 2 owners and it seems like it was dealer maintained. Seller went down to $24K.

That's a good price. Is there any history of accidents on it? I would check that first for that price.

High mileage is not a problem AS LONG AS it is well maintained. Well maintained means it has never been supercharged and not even engine tune! Unfortunately many sellers (specially on this forum) who are selling their cars, which were supercharged or tuned at certain period. I would check that if I am buying a high mileage M3.

CarFax is clean and AutoCheck is clean. 2 owners and there are records of maintenance at the dealer.

Checking out the car in the morning.

how's your car running. In fact, the price is really good. I've been in the market also, but I have never seen that price.

So I decided to pass on the 08 E92 M3.. the car was completely beat to death. The seller was completely dishonest when my friends and I asked questions we knew the answer to (i.e. paintwork, whether or not he was a dealer, etc) and he kept on trying to sell me on the TVs in the headrests

However.. I did buy the higher mileage 08 E93 M3 I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Here's my progress thread that I created: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1073048

The car is fine, she got all new fluids this past weekend. Spark plugs and belts are next. I sent out an oil sample to Blackstone to have it analyzed.

Other than that.. she just needs a little bit of TLC.

Good for you. That's right...you gotta be very cautious these days. I am still learning about this m3 which will eventually be my first m3. Price gotta be right, but the range that I feel comfortable isn't making it any easier to pick the right one. I almost prayed like I did for my 335i...haha. I don't really worry about other fluids....but more about rod bearings or any engine problem. I've heard this v8 is very reliable, but who knows. Good luck with your m3.

The rod bearings topic is definitely a very controversial topic on these boards haha.. I'll probably get them done further down the road once I have a better idea of whether or not I want to keep the car. Bearings are pricy to replace so maybe once the Clevite bearings go into production and tested is when I'll start looking more into it. As of now.. I'll just wait until what Blackstone has to tell me.

And thanks, best of luck to you as well.
