The 5-6k discount for providing a suitable core is 5-6k thus resulting in the $20k price.

Am I reading that incorrectly?

Also- Much thanks for the tips so far. Helping me with decision alot.
Could be I'm reading it wrong but I see 25k for the engine PLUS the 20k core charge which is refunded when they get a suitable core back to the shop. That is the way it normally works, the core is on top of the price and refunded after a suitable core is returned. Another thing that isn't immediately obvious is that it does not make the claimed power without the High Flow Intake 999, High Flow Throttle Bodies 2499, 16% underdrive pulley 499, and Free Flow Mufflers 2499, and all gaskets and fluids are on your own hook for a grand total of 32495 plus a little bit of shrapnel cash for gaskets and without even considering installation cost. I could not find the hp without the throttle bodies and so on but ya gotta figure its less. I'm thinking these numbers are a good part of the reason why you cant hardly find someone with a Dinan stroker installed.

Damn...so no core is like $50K + using that math. That sounds like it would be hard to justify.

Yes, FI is looking very good. Especially a stage 1. Seems to be the best balance between performance and reliability for me. I don't feel a need for 600 HP yet.

You can always upgrade if you needed to.

oh so true. But I become worried about the DCT transmission...I love it (this is my first paddle shifter) but I would definitely need/want to start looking into strengthening it if I go further down this road to power haha.

At what point is it necessary to upgrade the DCT? I noticed in this build I linked they did it. How much does something like that cost from ESS? I'm basically trying to decide now how far I want to go! lol

*I have a 2008 so I assume I must worry about the main-bearing as well*

What strikes me is that with Dinans setup you are basically paying for a complete engine when you don't need to. I was curious what it would run if you rolled into Gintani (for instance) and had them pull the motor and stroke it. Got to be a lot less and more comparable to supercharging in price. Whether it would be preferable is a can of worms but at least you would have a more level playing field (I think) on cost.

Well. Damnit. I guess I have no reason to not get a stage 1 now.
