I'm an ass ....

Just pulled in at work and miss judged the distance to the curb. I heard/felt the sickening crunch of the bottom lip of my bumper scraping on the concrete! FVCK! The front on this car is way harder to tell than my other car. All I see is $$$$$.

I wouldn't worry about it if the scratches are only underneath the front bumper and only visible when viewed from the ground.

My front bumper has some scratches when I backed out of a steep driveway with more people in my car than when i went up...even with the EDC in sport mode. Shit like this will happen with this car. Goes with the territory, I guess

i wonder why bmw don't add front parking sensor. it would come really handy. i found myself park in the reverse 100% of time due to not able to see out the front

Yeah, cognitively I know this is common and that I shouldn't care, but emotionally, I want to bang my head on a rough concrete wall ...

The only reason I haven't really lost it is because I have been planning on a lip and the scratches will be totally covered, but then you REALLY have to be careful not to screw up the lip. I need to look into seeing if the front sensors can be retrofitted to our cars...

Front sensors will not assist you in not scraping the bottom of your bumper. The front sensors are mounted pretty high in other BMWs (just like the rear sensors are mounted high). The front sensors will prevent you from running into a wall or another car when parking.

Mounting your front sensors say, underneath the front bumper wouldn't be ideal. Because they would be too close to the ground and detect the ground and be beeping all the time.

Been there and done that, first week of car and going to get car wash, scraped going up tall driveway, I probably got down and looked at it everytime I drove for a few day but now not a big deal (agree w lip) and stuff will happen

Just a guess, but since BMW had to re-engineer the front cover to accommodate the (ugly) orange reflectors for the North American market, they probably didn't feel it justified to spend the extra cash on another bumper with the integrated parking sensors AND the aforementioned reflectors

Also, good point above about the sensors and curbs, but I also would use them in my garage because I have a cabinet on the floor on the side I park the car. I guess I'll have to use the old ping pong ball on a string routine.

Exactly my sentiments... I scarped the bottom just minutes after getting the clear bra installed on the VRS lip. It looked like sh!t as some of the plastic was just dangling so I had to drive it right back into the shop to get fixed.
It's just an inanimate object but that kind of crap just tears me up for a good while.

IND offer and others suggestion sounds like a great plan

Hey at least your car is devirginized... I always look for the first scratch or chip and hope it happens quickly. It softens the blow for future minor issues.

And you are not the asshole, the curb is... fuck that curb, take a sledgehammer to it like the boys in office space did to that fax machine.

...just be thankful that your front bumper sort of "clears" the curb and only scratches the bottom side. i have to stop clear of the curb or else i'll crumple the lip and take my front bumper clean off LOL.

Yeah, I thought about how it would have been if I had already lowered it. I would have really been pissed then. It's been less than a week though
