I debated picking up one of these, but in the end all the new 3D tv's are edge-lit LCD's and I opted for the couple month old (and now discontinued in favor of the 3D tv's) Samsung 8500 series. This is a LED backlit TV and can be had for great prices right now, picked mine up on Amazon and couldn't be happier. The picture is much better and blacks are darker than any other LED tv out there.

For Soccer Fans there's going to be a broadcast of 25 games of the 2010 World Cup in 3D, that's got me thinking, can you imagine watching the Lakers beat the Cavs in 3D? lol

Exactly my point. Think outside the box. Interactive entertaiment is the the future. It happened in the gaming (arcade) world (& will happen in the pr0n industry.) The end result is endless...

I bought my TV through Amazon and a family member bought his at some other random retailer.

In both cases it was a great experience. Good price. No tax. No shipping fee and they delivered it right into the living room.

As with most other new forms of entertainment tech... Once it catches on in porn it will become mainstream.

You've got it reversed. It was Sony that did not want to use the format for adult films although it's a hotly contested debate over that even being a factor.

Am I the only one that thinks this whole 3D thing is just a fad and will be a "thing of the past" in a few years?

No. I don't see the appeal either.

the launching of these 3D channels and 3D TVs is happening faster than I expected. I'm excited, yet do not want to spend 3,300$ on a HDTV just yet. =T sucks.

I just don't see what's wrong with 2D HDTV at this point. I've seen "3D" and while it can seem kinda cool at times, I just don't see the point of it.

have you seen the new Panasonic demo's or any of the other demo's for the 3D, or are you just referring to the 3D you see in theaters or old anaglyph 3D?

I've seen a demo with shutter glasses, granted it was only on a 24" monitor, but I was told it was essentially the same thing as these TVs we're talking about. It seemed pretty cool, but didn't impress me enough to convince me it was something I wanted at home right now for how much it would run.

There are a lot of things that are "neat" and "cool" and "edgy". But that doesn't mean I'll spring for them just because I can....
