Really? Why you trying to push down the market on the car you own.

Real talk tho that's the cheapest 2011 I can find on auto-trader within 300 miles and has real low miles. Plus it's a CPO.. none of these others are. I think the price is pretty damn good.

EDIT: Oops just noticed it's a 2010. Still a pretty fair price IMO.

Soniczoom is right, but I'll provide more rationle.

Overall, it's a decent deal for a California car. I would try to knock about $500 off this price for a cash transaction, and if you're financing though them and/or doing a trade, definitely try to knock off a bit more as they're making money off your loan and trade.

If this car was not in CA, I would say about $1k too high for a cash deal. CPO and low mileage is where all the value is on this car, but the CPO is quantifiable. CPO is worth about $3k, brings this car down to $46k with no CPO. (note, adjust this figure by the actual cost of a comparable extended warranty, I'm just doing a estimate based on my memory of warranty price ) Remember, you could have taken the exact same car with no CPO and just buy BMW extended warranty which has substanitally similar terms as the CPO. At the end of the day you should pay at most $45.5k for this car with no CPO/extended warranty, and the dealer would still make AT LEAST about $500 profit off of this price.

Good find, you're almost there, it's time for you to do some homework and math do save about $1000, unless you're very lazy and are willing to give $500-$1000 away. Everyone's different, but we all work hard for our money.

If it was me, I would try to knock at least $500 off this, but if I had to take this price with no counteroffer, b/c someone else will jump on it while you wait, as a cash deal, I could sleep well at night too b/c of the CPO and low mileage. As it stands right now, I estimate the dealer will make about $1500 profit off you just for a cash deal. (and get ready to bend over if you are doing a trade for a car they don't want).

For point of reference, I recently bought a 2011 e90, with similar spec and 9k miles for $51.5k

You know what's ODD about this 2010 E90 car according to Manhemi prices. Well all 2010 E90 cars to be exact. They are going at the action for the same price as 08 cars... in fact 09 cars seem to be selling higher than the 2010s. Unless I'm pulling bad data this morning could anyone explain this?

how's the mileage and options compare? I think auction buyers of these cars are indifferent on years, and care more about mileage and condition and options. The reason is, if it's a BMW dealer they can always slap on a CPO to any vintage. if it's a 3rd party dealer, they probably feel like they can move the car with no issues.

I have noticed the same thing too (on quotes and through these threads)

problem is, you have to pay sales tax again. Believe me that's the major thing that's stopping me. Mine is 6% on the sticker...yikes, there goes $2,500 for a "CIC upgrade" or "extra warranty". Money would be better spent actually buying the extended warranty.

I'm sticking with my baby. I have all options, no mechanical issues, low mileage (26k), all major maintenance just perfomed before free maintenance ran out, I don't think the grass is that much greener on the other side for me, unless I REALLY want DCT or ZCP or another color, which isn't the case.

As of March 1st in Georgia the way they tax vehicles has changed drastically. You used to pay sales tax (5-9% depending on county) and then a yearly Ad Valorem tax($500+ on an E90). You also wouldn't pay any sales tax on private party used car sales.

Going forward you'll pay a flat tax rate when you purchase the vehicle, new or used, and then never have to pay a yearly tax on it again. This tax is 6.5% in 2013-2014 and 7% in 2015+. You pay this at the time of vehicle purchase and its based off 'fair market value' of the vehicle.

This probably doesn't belong in this thread but I just thought I would let any GA potential buyers know if you want to buy a car private party now is the time to do it.

what about a private vehicle swap? Sounds like you have to pay it since you need to register it again and it'll come in as a new VIN registration. What about a gift? Are they taxing you if your dad gives you a beater to drive during college? sounds like as long as there's a change in registration, they'll assess taxes?

I believe you are correct. They may have some clause for same family gifts but I think if you register it you have to pay it.

I did a little research on the extended warranty back in Aug 2012. I think the CPO value for a M3 is worth roughly 5k. Extended warranties for the M3 is a little higher than 5k after asking around (including internet sales). For my old 335i, it was almost 3k already.

yeah thanks, i just didn't remember what prices were for comparable terms to CPO. $5k sounds right. And remember, the dealer likely has a cost to that. I"m sure they can't just slap CPO on everything out there with no skin in the game.

So $5k is msrp for a buyer, I don't know what their cost of slapping the tag on is for it, anyone know how it works on the origination side?
