Left DRL out
Left daytime running light not working. Unplugged the bulb and checked with a meter; no power. Checked fuses but I'm not too sure about the hieroglyphic pictograms used on the little fuse directory stuffed behind the glove box. I checked the three fuses that I assumed to be lights and they were good.
Anybody have this problem before? |

I'm sure the fuse is for BOTH of them, so it sounds more like a ground problem or pulled wire to me (if fuse for each one, change it even if it looks good). Did you 'upgrade' your DRLs by any chance? Do everything else work on that headlamp: cornering lamp, parking lights, turn signal, low/high beam???

Did you by any chance hold down the Left indicator lever down? I know if you hold it down for a bit it will shut down the DRL of what ever side your holding down.
Try pulling it down like if your turning on the turn signal and hold it down to see if it switches on. Hope that helped, If not then G/L. |

Happened to me about a week or two ago. Took it to the dealer and they said they did something with the ecu or some shit, they were very vague, but got it fixed!

I tried the turn signal thing... no go. I didn't know about that. Don't see the point of it, but at least I learned something. Thanks.
I'm going to make an appointment to get my software updateded (DCT), so if it's something that needs to be reset in the software, that will take care of it anyway. Seems odd, but that's the second time I've seen that mentioned, so dealer is the next stop. Last edited by MysticBlue; 07-13-2009 at 06:50 AM.. |

Yes, this is what happened to me. I had some aftermarket bulbs in there, they were both still good. But they triggered something that disabled the DRL altogether. Dealer saw the error and all they had to do was clear it and they worked again. After that, I put the OEM bulbs back in.

When I took my car to the dealer for the latest DCT software update (and also to fix the idle valve issue) they told me that there was also an error message related to the lights, which BTW they also cleared. |

Just had this happen on my '09 E92 M3. Bulb is good. Fuses are good. Left DRL still not working. If it's a software/programming thing, is it something my BMW specialist can do?
Thanks, |

Replace the bulb and reprogram the FRM. That's what you have to do. The FRM has disabled that circuit.

Short circuit protection needs to be reset for that bulb. An experienced BMW coder or a dealer can do this.
