Highway Robbery!!!!!
Wow, I just placed an order with a US discount tire shop for a set of 4 Nitto NT01 to get my new APEX ARC-8 suited up for track season. Great deal, free shipping and they include all the tax/duty/brokerage fees in the transaction so you don't get screwed over by UPS (who nails you usually).
The US tire shop just called me to let me know that they are not permitted to ship the NT01 into Canada as their is a retailer (you know who I'm talking about, starts with a K) that has exclusive distribution rights for Nitto. These K crooks are charging almost 2x the US cost!!!! I'm in for boycotting K and Nitto because of this!!! I thought we live in a free market society!!! This is a borderline criminal............ Any alternate track tire suggestions? I've run R888 before but was looking forward to try out the Nitto as I have read good things.

That is not in the same league. RS3 is a Extreme performance tire. The NT01 and R888 are R-comps.

Did you try getting a quote from Billy at Tires23? Their prices are usually pretty competitive with US prices. Just cause a company is an authorized distributor, it doesn't mean that they are the only source.

I'll try Tires23 to see what they can do. I tried a few other shops including a wholesaler near my office who is having a hard time getting them. He is greeting back to me on Monday but I'll call Billy too. |
