Novitec Rosso 888hp twin-compressor Ferrari 599 GTO

http://www.italiaspeed.com/2011/cars..._599/2602.html

Novitec Rosso will present a more extreme version of the already extreme Ferrari 599 GTO at the 81st Geneva Motor Show next week with the power now bumped up to a claimed 888 hp and peak torque coming in at 862 Nm which will all add up to a new top speed that is in excess of 340 km/h, all thanks to its new twin-compressor technology. To further improve the power-to-weight ratio and for even more dynamic handling, the two-seater 599 GTO sports car is equipped by Novitec Rosso with new, light forged wheels.

Novitec Rosso's engine specialists have developed an even more powerful version of its twin-compressor kit for use with Ferrari's six-litre four-valve V12 engine enhanced for the more coupés sporty version, the Ferrari 599 GTO, itself a high performance limited-edition version derived from the 599 GTB Fiorano. Both superchargers, driven by a cogged V-belt and lubricated by a dedicated oil circuit, were optimised further says the German tuner. Maximum boost pressure is limited to 0.45 bar.

The large water-to-air intercooler is used which features a dedicated water circuit and is essential for maximum power yield and healthy engine temperatures. The intake side of the engine is further modified with an intake manifold custom-developed for the twelve-cylinder engine that features new air filters and injectors.

There is also a new stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system which improves the gas flow adds Novitec Rosso. The exhaust features four black-coated tailpipes with diameters of 90 millimetres. This exhaust system also provides drivers the opportunity to select different exhaust notes. The Manettino button on the steering wheel adjusts the exhaust note from the subtle to the extremely sporty sound of a true racing car.

The Novitec Rosso engine management coordinates the interaction of all components of the twin-compressor conversion for the GTO and ensures improved power yield, smooth running and maximum endurance.

After the engine conversion the 599 GTO is claimed by Novitec Rosso to now be amongst the most powerful super sports cars in the world. Maximum power output jumps from standard 670 hp (493 kW) to 888 hp (653 kW) at 8,400 rpm, giving the supercharged sports car a power-to-weight ratio of 1.74 kg/hp. The tuned V12 also produces improved peak torque, which increases by 242 Nm to 862 Nm at 6,600 rpm.

The combination of more powerful engine, extremely fast shifting six-speed F1 transmission and the lower weight of the 599 GTO results in better driving performance. The coupé sprints from rest to 100 km/h in a claimed 3.2 seconds and to 200 km/h in a claimed 9.1 seconds. This would establish the Novitec Rosso Bi-Kompressor firmly among the world’s fastest accelerating sports cars. Top speed is claimed to be more than 340 km/h.

Meanwhile the silver paint finish with a yellow cross stripe and white patches for the starting number aims to be reminiscent of the Ferrari 250 GTO racing car, chassis-no. 4153. At the wheel of this car the Belgian duo Lucien Bianchi and Georges Berger won the Tour de France in 1964. The lightweight-construction body itself remains unchanged with the exception of black tail lights, third brake light, rear fog lamp and side markers.

The tuner's suspension specialists have developed custom-tailored forged wheels specifically for the Ferrari 599 GTO. In their large size these new wheels are among the lightest of their kind anywhere in the world. They are anodised in a titanium shade and feature five delicate double spokes. The resulting reduction in unsprung weight is crucial for agile handling. The NF4 10Jx21 rims for the front axle weighs 10.4 kilogrammes while the size 12Jx22 rear wheels weighs 13.8 kilogrammes.

In addition to their low weight these wheels also widen the GTO's track and together with the wider Pirelli PZero tyres in sizes 295/25 ZR 21 and 335/25 ZR 22 that are now fitted they allow for faster cornering speeds than the GTO's production tyres. Novitec Rosso sport springs lower the center of gravity, which also contributes to this effect.

A useful feature in everyday driving is the front-axle lift function the German specialists have devised for the GTO. At the push of a button in the cockpit the front end can be raised by 40 millimeters. This eliminates the threat posed by speed bumps or underground parking ramps. Upon reaching a speed of 80 km/h the suspension automatically reverts to its original position. Finally upon customer request Novitec Rosso will also upgrade the interior with new materials including Alcantara.

Not feeling the paint scheme. Also, with over 200 hp more than the regular 599 GTO, shouldn't the 0-200 km/h be more than 0.7 seconds faster than in stock form (9.1 vs. 9.8)? I'm just nitpicking..
