I got the VAC fire extinguisher bracket mounted in front of my pass seat. I saw some OEM euro part which mounts the extinguisher on the seat...which is better IMO.

These cars have an awesome diff. You just need some countersteer and smooth throttle modulation...the diff will get things back in order for you.

that's true, doesn't look all that bad with tape Although by looking at it I doubt that flames out of exhaust are to blame

Wow - you weren't messing around when you said the interior was covered with dirt.

Sunday was much cooler than Friday (approx ~92F) from what I was told.

The fire seems to be in the center of the trunk where the exhaust collectors are located. This would lead me to believe that it was an exhaust leak or a malfunction with some part in that area allowing heat to go where it should not. Cars that run rich would have scorch marks on the bumper near the tips. And the bumper is clean in that area. If it was enough "flame shooting" to cause the bumper to go up in flames, it would happen where the ignition source is i.e. the tailpipes. Not in the middle of the bumper and the inside of the trunk.

It's premature to blame it on the tune with out any logs or proof that the car was indeed running rich enough to cause said fire.

^Wasn't blaming anything, let alone on the tune. Was simply relaying what the person who txt'd me those photos commented.

- GTR on fire
The rear session of that exhaust was touching the bumper and diffuser underneath when I saw that car last time. Not sure if it's the actual cause but that might be it.

Use a leaf blower to get that toxic buttonwillow crap dirt out of the car. Remember, buttonwillow is on the site of a former epa superfund site. That usually keeps me on the track (unless it was a race, then the dirt was like a magnet to me...).

Thorny, your times show a nice progression. Remember that BW grip drops off as the temps go up on the 2nd day. The sweet spot is usually the first or second run session unless dirt/crap was blown on the track overnight.

Looked like a fun, albeit hot, weekend for everyone.

Cleaned by hundreds of cars carrying off dirt on weekends. They are thinking of building racetracks on every Superfund site.
