Locking Studs

Just bought my Matt Schnell spacers and it occurred to me that by fitting the extended wheel studs I will loose the locking wheel nut. How have you guys resolved this issue?

Tons of aftermarket stud kits with locks. Tuner Motorsports has a high quality example.

Kics R40's or other aftermarket lugs. If you go with Kics R40's, Julius@Style77 gave me the best price.

euro wheel locks is an option with out having to do a stud conversion

I don't agree with the comment that there are "tons" available, the opposite is true IME. Locking bolts, yes, not locking nuts.

KICS seem to be the best/most readily available. As noted above Turner sells them along with several other places. Sonic had another brand that I cannot remember right now but you can call them and ask if you are looking for something less expensive than KICS.

Kics R40 or R26 will work or a less expensive alternative is Muteki SR48 lock set and you can get the SR48's to complete the set.

I'm being really thick I know but the car comes with bolts / lugs as opposed to nuts. So how do you use nuts. I have a feeling this is a really stupid question.

Some folks convert their cars to studs. Makes it much easier to change wheels. Basically a screw a stud into the existing holes, mount tire on stud, thread nut onto stud and tighten.

I was shopping around for them and I saw a good amount. Theres alot of Japenese companies making them too, finding where/how to order them is the hard part imo. I bought the Motekis and I will have a review on them. I've heard they may have a tendency to break, if so I will cave and buy one of the expensive sets. imo, lug nuts are the way to go no matter what if you plan on removing the wheels ever, so for me bolts arent an option.

Oh I see. So you tighten the studs onto the hub and then place the spacer and wheel on and tighten with a set of nuts. I get it. So my only question then is, with 18mm and 15mm spacers fitted what stud length would I need?

You'll need a 90mm stud. The 75mm studs only allows up to a 12mm spacer.

You want to be sure and put locktite on the studs where they screw into the hub.

If I stick with the bolts for now where would I get some locking ones of the appropriate size?

If a thief wants your wheels, he is going to get them regardless of your locks. Don't waste your time or money on them.

Not good, I think I will opt for the KICS. Wish Turner would make some to go with their set of studs/nuts.

I ordered the Kics R26 and stud kit from Turner a few days ago, but they are currently out of stock on both. They said there's about a 2-3 week wait time before they get them.
