Cool. I thought for a moment that I was gonna be involved in another "Battle of the Filters" thread for the third time in a row. |

GI you have the same flawed thinking as kyoshi had pointed out. Oiled filters do NOT use physical "blocking" with media to do the majority of the particulate filtering. That would make no sense! Oil is not just there for fun. The point is they can make larger spaces, in turn using oil which creats a tight barrier, held by surface tension to filter the particulates.
What I also said in my other post, is you need to consider different factors for oil based filtration. As filter pores get slightly larger, the surface tension creating the taut oil film is strenghned. Obviously there is a limit before the pulling forces would overcome the surface tension and the oil would not provide a taut layer of film. So I really do not think you can go by simply the porous nature of the oil filters as they are designed completely differently. Now paper relies on simply blocking via paper so any pores wouldu be terrible. You are not thinking 4th dimensionally! to each his own but if that is your reasoning that it is really flawed and really should not be telling others to follow this flawed logic ( I know you did not directly but you are posting links to your own flawed explanation..) |
