Goddamn, that thing is fast! Goddamn, that thing is ugly! If Merc can put that drivetrain in a C-class coupe and make it look a little better than a design that Hyundai would reject, they'd really have something. BMW would have to rethink keeping the M3/4 at the low 400 horsepower level.

1. Our "enemy" is the C63 AMG, not the E63. This car is enemy to the M5.
2. At this power level, I really think you need AWD, especially in a large front engine sedan with relatively narrow tires. That's where a car like this will hammer an M5. M5 simply can't put its power down effectively enough. I know RWD will still give you a more dynamic feel, but in these bloated, heavy power barges, what difference does it really make? People don't buy these cars to take them to the track. Even the vast majority of M5 owners will never track their cars. 3. I have never been a huge fan of MB looks. There are a few models that are nice, but their styling tends to look dated very fast. BMW designs are timeless. Even a nicely kept 12 year-old e46 M3 still looks hot. 4. Keep in mind, that we are splitting hairs here. At this overall caliber of car, no matter what you buy....S/RS cars, M cars, AMG cars.....they are all really pretty good.

I'd like to take a vote to see who in here has actually flogged (and I don't mean just a quick spin down a side street) a recent C63 / E63. For those who have not, I think you guys need to before you make any judement against an AMG.

How is this thing: AMG SpeedShift MCT
Mercedes-AMG developed the 7-speed MCT "Multi Clutch Technology" planetary semi-automatic transmission. The MCT transmission is essentially the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission without a torque converter. Instead of a torque converter, it uses a compact wet startup clutch to launch the car from a stop, and also supports computer-controlled double declutching. The MCT (Multi-Clutch Technology) acronym refers to a planetary (automatic) transmission’s multiple clutches and bands for each gear. It seems uninspiring to me. |

Guys I had a 12' c63 and jumped into my new m3 ,terms of power the c63 was a beast....but driving experience, transmission and handling m3 all day...and am not even going into the looks dept....this e63 is just faster off the line but top end it won't beat the m5 specially if you buy the new competition pckg on the m5
