Project Car or Motorcycle

Currently looking for a project car or motorcycle to fill my time during the weekends and start a little hobby. Any suggestions on cars/bikes that would fairly inexpensive to purchase , easily find parts for, and a good undertaking for a novice?

For project bikes, Japanese will be the least expensive and easiest to find parts. What do you want to do? Restore? Customize? If on a budget stay away from anything Italian. Triumph, BSA, Norton, are timeless machines but more expensive than a Japanese model.

If you're not really "into" bikes, stick to cars!

Bikes are easier to work on, and great for learning.

What about a Honda ruckus? They have quite a cult following and can be tricked out to look pretty cool.

I'm working on a 1988 GSXR 750. Dead simple bike. It's oil cooled and four cylinders. Bikes are the easiest to work on because you don't need to jack them up to work on them. Plus, nothing beats suicidal japanese iron on two wheels.

I just got a 71 Harley shovelhead that I'm slowly turning into a bobber.

IMO anything chopper or bobber that isn't HD is kind of wrong, but I have seen some cool bikes from other brands.

An older shovelhead will cost a little more than a Japanese bike, but the cool factor is way high, and you'll enjoy working on it (you'll NEED to lol), plus there's a satisfaction factor from building and riding a bike you customized yourself.

There's a LOT of great shovelheads available for around 4-5 grand.

Not my first choice but it's definitely a possibility.
