Best tar remover?

I would like to get your ideas on the best tar remover. My 19' oem wheels have blobs of road tar stuck on the inside of the rim. I tried some degreaser and the green scrubbing side on a sponge, it gets removes but with a lot of elbow grease and a mandatory polishing stage with the PC7424 after.

So is there a product that would break down the tar so I won't have to polish the inside of the wheel?

Give diluted Poorboys Bug Remover a try - always works for me even on paint but don't let it dry - don't think i'd be using the scourer either - just a terry towel or mf shop cloth is OK. If you have an old bit of clay around you could try that as well

Good luck

had to, the tar would come off. doesn't matter, as i removed the dullness it created with a finishing polish. wheels look like new now, but it is definitively something I don't want to try again. also the tar was just on the inside of the wheels and not on the shinny metal part.

I use Duragloss Bug Remover on road tar and tire residue thrown up on the track.

I've used Autoglym Tar Remover for years. It works exeptionally well, and is not harmful to paint. One bottle has lasted me four years!

Do you use this on your wheels only or can you also use this product on the body/paint?

Yeah, the Xenit is awesome for removing petroleum-based stuff. I use it for tire rub marks (from other cars) on racecar bodywork.

I like Tarminator but it smells a little too toxic. Xenit on the other hand seems to work great and smells like one of those orange degreasers.
