Installed Alcantara Shift/Ebrake Boots & BMW Performance Shift Knob From Redline

I bought the eBrake & Shift boot from http://www.redlinegoods.com/. The quality and fitment of these items were spot on. The only thing I would say that's slightly off is the black of the alcantara is not a total 100% match with the black of my speed cloth/leather interior. But I don't mind at all and I would say it's pretty hard to match colours when you make boots for every car. I followed the DIY they have on the site:

http://www.redlinegoods.com/E92install.shtm

The most time consuming part was removing the stock boots from the plastic rings without ripping them so I could go back to stock if I want to later. I used a blow-dryer to heat the rings/glue up so I could more easily pry them off. The eBrake boot was much harder to take off than the shift boot. But do-able none the less (took me more than an hour though). Here are the pics:

(Sorry about the quality. If you guys want I can take some tmr during the daytime as well.)

Here you go:

Your pictures are a little dark to make things out. The shift knob is sex, but too dark to see the alcantara!

Haha I'll put more pics up tmr. I just couldn't resist after I finished. I think it looks quite good. It doesn't light up, but it's weighted and looks/feels alot better than stock imo.

Oh also, BIG THANKS to TAIWAN-EUGENE for his shift knob. He rocks.

The shift knob is nice, but the lack of lighting option put many folks off. If it was lighted, a lot more 'modified' ZHP buyers would have considered it IMO. Other than that, both are weighed and about the same height.

If the ZHP is not getting modified with lighting, the performance knob is a no brainer IMO. Good day.

That top pic, I saw the bottle out of the corner of my eye. For a second I thought it was a bottle of Beefeater vodka. I busted out laughing so hard at the idea of a big ass bottle of booze in the cupholder. I need to do that for a photo shoot.

The shift knob looks awesome.

Can't say that I would go for that gearknob. For as far as I can see the Alcantara looks amazing though!

Please take better pictures if you have the chance!

It's too dark. I can't see a thing, besides the knob.

UPDATED PICS!

Sorry about the dark pics last night. I took some during sunset today.
My car is dirty but it's winter.

What do you guys think? Should I also get my steering wheel/armrest wrapped in alcantara?

Looks great. My Audi has it on the panel behind the armrest and it looks really good. Plus it is a much lower wear area.

Great look! Reminds me of a GT3/Cayman S Sport edition, etc. Personally I'd love to have the 9 and 3 o'clock positions wrapped in alcantara (a la Performance steering wheel) with a colored stripe at 12 o'clock; not sure about the center armrest in alcantara though, might be irritating during daily driving...

I would say no on the armrest, only because I think it would not wear well. I did this to my steering wheel. I think I need that performance shift knob now!

Not really. This was an easy swap of the middle trim piece, reversible and only like $60. If you really want the 9&3 position of the wheel in alcantara, just get the Performance Wheel.

Alcantara wears too easily and that's why I'd advise not to wrap the 9 & 3 positions of your wheel. It'll look great for a while but will start to wear out quickly. Just ask anyone who owned a Competition package on their E46's.

+1

All the alcantara gets torn up so fast, the ZHPs had huge issues with this as well.
