Can you fellas help appraise my car?

Hey guys,

A friend of mine asked me to sell my 911 to him and I need some advice from you guys.

I have a 2006 C2. Its in pristine condition with 16,000 miles on it. It doesn't have many options....just the Bose sound system and 19 inch wheels. It had a sticker price of $80k when I bought it. How much would you guys sell it for?

Is it even worth it to sell the car for the e92? Is BMW still accepting order on the e92? Any feedback would be much appreciated.....thanks.

My friend just recently bought an 07 Targa 4 with 44K miles for 43,000 Out the door with brand new tires and all service completed. We went to New York to pick it up and drove it to STL.

edmunds.com, autotrader.com, ebay, etc all places to start. Why would you think a BMW forum would give you accurate pricing for your Porsche?

Why not just go take it to a few dealers and see what they offer? Then sell to your friend for slightly higher?

I believe Dealers are going by Manheim... There isn't any pricing for 2006 at the moment on it... but this gives you an idea about 2007's

Your best bet would be to trade the car if you are planning to get an e9x m3 IMHO

Here in Canada we pay tax only on sticker price less trade in value and that is a plus (don't know if it is the same in the US).

Selling to a friend is fine, provided he pays the same as trade in plus what you would save on tax when getting a new or used m3

As for what your car is worth, I would approach 3 different dealers and see what they offer as a trade in for your Porsche.

When you do see the three different dealers let them know you have your eye on there car, however on two other cars (comparably to the one you are looking at), also. This tends for the dealership to sharpen there pencile ... Remember they want your business.

Case in point in 2004 I traded my business car (a 1999 Mercedes M Class 350). I had the car appraised at Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar. Jaguar gave me the best deal so my new business car was then a Jaguar 3.0 X-Type.

So do some shopping around and don't appear anguish about it. Let them know there are other fish in the sea in the end you come out on top.

Good Luck

Gawd damn! 50k depreciation with that low of miles... YIKES. This reminds me of the debate in the "Should I buy a second car" thread. Definitely supports the "drive it!" don't "baby it" fiscal argument. For a premium car, $1 / mile deprecation seems moderate to high. $3 / mile depreciation is crazy!

Yeah the depreciation makes me depressed just thinking about it. When I purchased the car I thought it would hold its value well.......apparently not.

Anyone know if it still takes about 3 months to receive a custom ordered e92?

Sounds about right. You could get lucky finding something already en route or at a dealer somewhere in the U.S. It's slim but a few have been successful.

Good luck.

A 7-year-old Porsche? I bet $50K would be the best you could get. $45K sounds about right.

Do the 2006 C2s still have an IMS? If so, you are going to need to either find a buyer who isn't aware of this and make sure to sell "as is" with no implied warranty. You don't want any responsibility if the engine blows any time soon after the sale.

Why don't you just keep it? It is a beautiful car and nobody will give you what it is worth to you. Don't get me wrong, I love my M but your car seems pretty mint.

Even up trade, I don't think so, much less for a loss. Having said that, I prefer the E90 because of the practicality. I'd be surprised if it was more enjoyable to drive than your Porsche. As with all things, it depends on your priority.

If you are planning on selling for less than $40k, PM me, as I may have an interested buyer. PM me either way, if you decide to sell

I don't blame your friend for wanting it, beautiful. Good friend $40k. Dealers usually lowball because they know if you trade with them you only pay tax on the difference which can be thousands, at least that's true in Florida. If you want a 2013 E92 M3 I would consider selling the P car. If you don't want an M car I would suggest the 335is which I just traded for the M3. It's a good one.
