You are right. But personally, I'm very happy with just the V1. The height and look is spot on IMO, but granted I'm not scared of scraping it because I can just apply more Plasti Dip which is nice.

Can you please elaborate on the plati dip? I know what it is but how do you use it on the lip? As protection?

I was thinking about protecting the lip with clear film if possible

Thanks! Usually I'm a fan of the CF splitters, but wanted to try something different. Really liked the way the lines match the ones of the skirt extenders

I bought the lip damaged because I wanted to learn how to fiberglass (not to mention I got it for dirt cheap)

So obviously, there's no way in hell to repair the CF weave, so I just Plasti Dipped it, thus why in the pictures of it on my car, it's matte black. So if I curb mine, or get rock chips, just gotta throw on some more Plasti Dip and I'm good to go

In your case, if you want to protect it, just put a clear bra on it just as you said, that should work great.

Impressive. I like your matte plasti-dip version more than the carbon one.

Thanks! I had no idea how it was going to turn out, as it was my first try at fiberglass work. I think I have less than $250 into the project (damaged lip + repair materials). Modding on a budget

Your fix came out even more impressive after seeing the damage up close! Not sure if my memory serves me correctly, but did you buy this off the guy who advertised the damaged lip as "not looking too bad when on the car"? If this was the same ad, I'm wondering what that seller was thinking!!

Pretty good memory, that's the same one haha. I expected the top coat to be gone and down to the fiber, but I was not expecting a huge chunk missing from the bottom of the lip. Was very surprised when I received it and was scared that it was beyond repair. But luckily all I had to do was just patch it on both sides with new fiberglass, put a top layer of bondo glaze, and then add 5 layers of Plasti Dip. Since I'm on a DIY roll, thinking of picking up a Sycamore wood interior trim set and doing something with it haha. Thanks for the kind words btw.

For those that need more ground clearance we'll have out street version lip in poly in about 2 mos. Same as our current design, but less aggressive. Still goes to the ends of the bumper like our GT version as well.

I wonder if Plasti-dip on the bottom of the lip would help protect the lip at all? Kind of like a rubber pad for curbs and driveways.

I doubt it but I'll probably do what I did with the OEM splitters, 3-4 layers of paint protection film. Eventually will add the V2 extension

That wouldn't really help.

I've seen a lot of shops and local guys fab up a thin "protector" out of sheet-aluminum that bolts or 3m's to the underside of the splitter and acts as a scrape protector

Looks great!! I'm still very surprised how much clearance there is. I've only lightly scrapped a couple of times the past 3 weeks. Went over a giant speed bump yesterday waiting for that inevitable sound, but nothing. It was like oh phew, I cleared haha.

5-6 coats will protect from minor stuff. It'll definitely drop the severity of going over parking stops and parking curbs to a certain extent.

I have a bunch of matte clear and glossy clear plastidip I'm going to use on the Challenge Poly lip whenever it's ready to be sold.

I think there's a vendor on here with an aluminum "scrape" plate.

Thanks, I know right, plenty clearance there, it's already passed a few minor tests lol.
