Roof clear coat is chipping, can this be fixed?

I'm not sure how it happened, but I have a few spots on my roof where the clear coat is essentially gone and I'm down to the raw CF. I'm guessing it started with a rock chip and maybe has gotten worse over time. I recently had it in the body shop for something else and asked the guys there if they could fix it and they told me nothing could be done about it, but I'm not sure I believe that. Surely some sort of epoxy or spot clear coating could be applied. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Click on the first picture and look at the full resolution. I'm fairly sure it's down to the carbon fiber in those two spots.

Disclaimer: Shot in the dark and never tried this.

I wonder if you could compound/polish it in order to clean it up then apply Opti-Coat 2.0 heavily to level it out/protect it.
