Reflashes are provided at no charge (depending on GIAC location, some dealers may charge labor) if your software is accidentally overwritten by the dealer.
Tom, FYI this is wrong. Dealer can detect it

You're refering to the EGAS, which is changed by GIAC for quicker throttle response, but not to the point where day to day driving is affected (earlier SMG in Sport mode will know what I'm talking about).

Local dealers so not have the tools to detect flashes. However, if the computer is sent to BMWNA, this is a different story. There is no specific reason this should ever happen unless other factors come into play which are unrelated to this thread.

While the tunes are on the aggressive side, GIAC has been tuning for quite some time to know what levels are acceptable and safe for your M3.
Apparently they do and can detect flashes. at least they can detect this one even without sending the computer or the program log to BMWNA. i am sorry to hijack your thread, i just respect EAS too much to let them unintentionally misinform customers

There's a bit more to the story we're missing, there could have been a shop decal on the DME, tuner decals on the car, we don't even know why BMW was scanning in the first place.

All of the techs I've spoken with over the years and equipment used (DIS/SSS/OPS) do not yet have this capability. Even if so, the dealer cannot void a warranty, this is a decision made by BMWNA.

Feel free to PM me offline, so we don't hijack the thread any longer and we'll find out what happened.
