Suspension clunk at low speeds
Recently after a Watkins Glen event I've been noticing a clunk sound when hitting bumps at low speeds on the passenger side front. At highway speeds hitting bumps doesn't seem to cause the sounds. I didn't hit anything at the event besides the stand gators at the corners.
At first I thought strut mount or the strut blew. But the car seem to handle fine. Had my mechanic look it over and test drive the car. He checked for leaks on the strut and also the strut mount but both looks fine. He also checked all the joints around the suspension and every seemed to be tight. He suggested replacing the sway bar end links but he's not 100% sure that's it. Atleast they are cheaper than say replacing the strut. I'm at 56k right now. The car was originally a Houston highway driven car. I put only 5k of nyc miles on the weekends. Anybody had similar experiences? The e90 have any weak points around the suspension. |

You could have a blown motor mount. I didn't think this would result in additional suspension clunking and noises, but it definitely can. Pull your bottom protective pan and take a look with a flashlight.

Just replaced my right side sway bar end links. No more clunking!!!
At first thought it was a blown shock. Started to look at coil overs. Even though my shock is fine I'm thinking about coilovers. |
