Keep stock EDC (or) coil over?
So, I just picked up a 2011 DCT Coupe. The ride with the EDC is WAY better than my 2004 6MT Vert with KW ST's. I have an opportunity to pick-up a used set of KW V2's off a friend's wrecked 2008 coupe. The last thing I want is to take a nice oem ride and make it worse. And for what...to lower the car .25" to give it a more aggressive stance? I'm not tracking this car just a DD. So, I can get a deal on these V2's and install, but I'm on the fence. Looking for opinions. Thanks.

Stock EDC is a good setup. Use it until it NEEDS replacing.

If you're looking to lower the car but want to keep your EDC, then look into the KW H.A.S. kit. Probably a cheaper option than the V2's and it retains the EDC.

I love the EDC. Just did H&R Sport Springs on my buddies E92 so he can keep the EDC b/c he wanted something a little more lowered and more aggressive for track days, while still having the comfort of being a DD. The springs lowered the car about an inch all around. I have just ordered a set myself from a forum member and will eventually put them on. I think its the best option right now. He also added the H&R sway bar, which I will do... after I do some more track days and are getting more comfortable with my bimmer.

EDC is very nice, but it all depends on what you're looking for. I ended up going with coilovers as it allowed me to go lower and wanted a stiffer ride.

I was skeptical too of edc. My car came with dinan edc and had planned on changing them to ohlins but after tracking my e92 with the dinan edc Kit was very surprised and impressed with it. It's quite good.

for DD, probably coilover suspension not worth the cost. However, would say a good double-adjustable suspension may actually improve ride quality if you have the ZCP and EDC. My TC Kline D/A kit with relatively soft springs and soft settings rides better than the soft setting stock and definitely handles better than the stiffest setting with EDC. This is where the benefit of a rebound (as well as compression) adjustment helps keep the tire on the road. EDC only adjusts compression rates.

Did you shave the guide support and cut the bump stop when putting the h&r springs in? Or did you keep it stock?

Ride feels as good as stock(corroborated by my lady-friend) and the handling is noticeably improved from the stiffer rate springs/struts and lowered CoG, not to mention the look is spot on. |

Yea, I installed H&R on my car and the ride just seems ridiculously stiff. Although I don't know what stock rides like because the guy I bought the car from had crappy Megan's in it and it rode like crap. The H&r feels much much better, but I still think it's quite stiff. So I am just wondering if I should change out the bump stop and shave the top hat. Did you change the rear bump stop or kept the stock bump stop?

Id be weary of a KW kit from a wrecked car. Unless you can send them to KW to do a shock dyno or whatever that calibration process is called, it would be hard to say if a tab or rod didnt get slightly bent from the impact.
