Installed Electric Cutouts

Hey guy and gals,

I just wanted to share. I had my DMH electric cutouts installed today with the help of CES Motorsport! I also had a rogue short shifter installed.

Let me know what you all think? I have some more pictures and videos to come!

I think that's super cool. Just wondering how much it would cost and if it would be worth doing considering the labor work.
-Still i think it's awesome to have an extra button to push that will reveal more of the beast!
*Thanks for the video

It cost me about $700 labor and material. I did the wiring myself. I wanted the best of both worlds. Nice and reserved if I'm on a date or an awesome sound when out with the guys.

DMH is another manufacturer of electric cutouts. They have a 4 year warranty. The valve is manufactured here in the US. I ran the wires under the heat shields, up throught the center console, tapped the power source through the lighter plug, and drilled a hole in my ashtray for the switch. If I didn't pointit out you wouldn't notice it! Plus if I want to go back to stock all I have to do is by a new ashtray and no one would notice anything. I will post pictures in the next day or so. Here's one more video

DMH is the way to go IMO. It open and close FAST, and its great quality what I know. My friend has been running his DMH EC on his STI for 2 years this summer, no problem whatsoever. Only issue he had once was that one wire melted from the exhaustheat due to lazy wiring.

Very cool, indeed.
Can you please post more info on your setup?

I assume it's the dual cutout, 2.5" design?

Here is the link to their homepage.

Yes it's the DMH 2.5" dual cutout. I had CES Motorsport install them.

http://www.cesmotorsport.com/

Here are some pics and video with AA X-pipe with HFC's installed. This made a big difference in sound and power; however, with the AA X-pipe and HFC's it is very loud with the valves open. It is deffinately not for everyone but with a push of the button the sound is totaly acceptable for daily driving.

I wish I had known about these when I did mine as they seem to actuate a lot faster. Not a big deal though. The only time I close them is on long highway trips when I want to focus on my music

For sure! It bypasses the restrictive OEM muffler completely.

OP, that sound is amazing!! Sounds like a monster.

I am by no means exhaust expert, don't flame me!

Is it possible to put this solution closer to the engine exhaust manifold to have bigger booooooooooom and consequently less restriction and more gain?

Once you get to a certain point you can have to little restriction and loose low end torque.

Plus I didn't want to have exhaust coming in the car so I had them placed after the axle.

Furthermore, if you put the car up on a lift and look around there isn't much room anywhere else to place the valves.

Cool. Glad more people are doing cutouts. Its a awesome mod. A lot of work though!

I used race ready cutouts. I wouldnt recommend them. When it gets to be 40deg F they literally stop working. The company is unsupportive so fu RRP! Anyone considering buying Race Ready Valves should read this first: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...40#post9589740

Anyway, cutouts will give a little (5-10hp) HP but you will lose about the same amount of torque. I know this because I dyno'ed my car in both configs. I would guess that the closer you got to the headers, the more HP you'd gain and torque you'd lose, but thats just a guess. Either way, I cant feel the difference when they are open or closed.

BTW, do you get drone at around 3000 rpm? I'd think this config would drone a little bit.

DON'T BUY Race Ready Performance electronic cutout valves. Here's why: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...40#post9589740
