If you could go back to any concert

I'm 21 years old and I missed some of the best music ever made, and my favorite classic rock band is undoubtedly Journey. If I could go back to the "80's" to see any band, I would love to hear Steve Perry and Journey in their prime.

What would be your pick and why?

I have others, but Journey is definitely my first choice

Discuss

I think this is the best live clip they have on youtube of them, not my favorite song though

I'd go back again and re-watch Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys. Best concert I've ever seen and I had like 20th row seats with a large walkway in front of us (so no one could block our view).

MJ was a close 2nd, but I was WAAAAYYYYY up in the nosebleed seats.

I'd probably go see Led Zeppelin or The Who.

Define classic rock

Classic rock was originally conceived as a radio station programming format which developed from the album-oriented rock (AOR) format in the early 1980s. In the United States, this rock music format now features a large playlist of songs ranging from the 1960s and 1970s. Classic rock production ceased on December 31, 1979 with the transition into 1980s Hair Metal. Some stations continue to include a limited number of current releases.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_rock

Journey was formed 1973

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journey_(band)

A 37 year old band is not considered classic rock?

I guess Aerosmith isnt either by your criteria. Only 1960's music and older is considered "classic"?

What about Boston? 1975

When Ozzy Osbourne went solo it was late 70's when he got canned by Black Sabbath. Black Sabbath continued on without Ozzy.

Black Sabbath is clearly "classic rock"
But Ozzy as a solo artist? You tell me. Remember, its 2010 right now.

I beg to differ.

lol at Journey

Definitely The Who...I've seen some of the old classic rock guys (Clapton, Fogerty) over the past few years and they sound almost exactly the same as 40+ years ago. Daltrey's voice, on the other hand, is just gone.

O I don't doubt they've got a classic rock style, I just don't think they're very good. IMO of course

I saw Journey, Greg Kin opened for them. It was at the Rosemont Horizon near Chicago. We had seats behind the stage, but they had a relatively open stage set up so it wasn't as bad as that sounds.

Journey was indeed excellent in concert.

Zepplin would be my choice for the topic though.

The link above was for the guy a couple post above you, the topic is about the concert(which I think would of been crazy, because of how many people and bitches that were at Journey's concerts)

This isn't a debate on who was a better band

I actually got to do just that on Friday. I grew up LOVING Faith No More and never got to see them before they broke up in 1999. Fast forward 10 years and they got back together! They had only toured outside of the US up to this point but they played 2 dates in NYC this weekend and I finally got to see them! The show rocked and another concert dream was realized. I know I know... cool story bro.

I don't understand some people, you have decades to choose for a band that you will never see again, and people are choosing one from 2 years ago...to each his own

Others I would choose
MJ touring after thriller
Nirvana
Pretty much any 80's super bands like Motley Crue, Boston, ACDC etc...
