Floor cover Problems m39x

Hello,

BMW Partnumbers:
  • 51717899815
  • 51717899816

I've got probleme with these parts at the front. The adjustment of my suspension is quite low, so these parts are normally touching the ground when i leave the curb of my gateway or @ track. Its the secound broken kit.

Are there any solutions to change them with aftermarket parts or something else? Good friends of mine got the same problems @ track even with OEM Suspension.

I dont understand the reason why they have this throat depth to the ground...

thank you

I don't think you posted the correct part numbers based on your description. Those part numbers correspond to the fender liners. Your description refers to the felt panels under the front of the car. The felt panels are designed to break on impact. If they were stiffer then that energy would transmit up to your bumper cover or other parts that are far more expensive to fix. My car is very low and my driveway is very steep so I figured out a way to get in and out without damaging them and/or my lip (experimented with numerous ways to get in and out). Approaching steep inclines/declines at a 45 degree angle is best. This is obvious but you could adjust your ride height. I had to raise mine by 1/4" to gain the clearance I needed. Lastly I don't know how your friends are damaging them at OEM ride height on the track unless they are going up the curbing.... I have yet to damage one of mine at the track and I'm 1" to 2" lower than OEM...

That is the Engine EMI insulation cover. Those are not meant to bear a lot of load (only wind force) essentially as that is what they are meant for. They will typically break if hit hard enough. They are cheap and easy to replace.

They costs ~ 40 € each. They arent much expensive, but its the secound set which got broke after a track day. A bit expensive if you have to change them biweekly
