I asked my dealer two weeks ago when I was getting my winter/summer tires swapped, they saw it in the system, but it would not let them order one. It doesn't seem to be available yet officially in the US..

Been out and available since last week. Many dealers reported getting them in stock last Friday and some have pictures posted of the Media unit in the car.

i've tried to order the Audio/Video adapter (84 21 2 199 392) online and thru the dealer. Online, the order was canceled (part unavailable) and the dealer locally said not until July.....

Are you getting the media cradle on a 2011.5 build? I called my dealer this afternoon, they said when they put in my VIN, I'm a November 24th, 2010 build, the media cradle option is no longer selectable. According to them, my car is only compatible with the iPhone 4 Basic cradle and iPhone 4 Music cradle. The basic and media were able to be ordered, the music cradle still has a hold on it in their system...

Can I just get the media cradle, even though I don't have BMW Apps, i.e. a March 2011 and later build?

There are new part numbers for the cradles. The music one is not showing available yet that works with the iPhone 4.

So i have tried a media cradle and see really no big difference. Since there is no manual, what is it supposed to do? I can't see movies, cannot see podcasts (those are all "media"), the only difference is the album artwork so far. What am I missing?

Then you are getting what is expected from the cradle based on your options.

With the recent 6NR option on post March 2011 cars, the new media cradle will provide for video and PlugIn, which is the iPod controls on the BMW screen.
