E92 M3 suspension options
Full disclosure, I'm a noob about suspensions. That said I've read the stickies so I'm getting there but need some advice please.
I'm purchasing a 2008 E92 with stock suspension with EDC. I want a more aggressive stancelook so I'm looking at suspension mods (springs or coilovers maybe) but I'd also like it to work with EDC. Any opinions out there from the suspension experts on some fairly low cost solutions to achieve the look I'm going for. Note this car won't be for track purposes and will be a daily driver. You could go with a simple spring swap (H&R, Dinan, etc) but I recently replaced my H&R springs with the following:
http://www.tcklineracing.com/index.c...y&Category=756 Completely EDC compatible and has the ride height adjustability being a coilover system. I've only drive a 1,000 miles on it, but given that I had a custom alignment/balancing done, it's a day night difference in how the car handles with just springs. And, the kit has camber plates for added adjustability included in the price. *I too, am not by any means a susp'n expert, but I know what I like!* |

I can't recall how much drop I got (I was 600 miles away from the car when it was installed). It's certainly lower than with just the H&R's. I am guessing the ride height went from the 3/4" drop with the H&R's to about 1.25" with the coilovers. (Both versus stock.)
Height adjustment is like any other coil over. If you look at the link, there is a threaded collar that allows for finite height adjustment. I don't have any proper pictures of the car as she sits (I will tonight) but I do have pics of the parts installed. If you're doing just springs that's too much of a drop for our suspension.

About the ride.... They are a bit harder than Oem, so normal with a lower spring,but no jumpy ride and they kill a lot of body roll ! Like i said above if i could get a TUV/Approval.....but sadly....Damn ?!?! Think to move to the US....no Approvals....no 5H1T for car inspections !!! Imagine...i realy want this springs....and can't due this damn country ! If someone knows a solution..........? >

After installing my Vorschlag.camber plates with stock zcp edc suspension the front was raised considerably and the rake was off. I recently installed the swift spec r springs up front only leaving the rear as stock and will be headed to the track on Monday to see how the combo works with the rake being back to neutral now. The front is maybe 1/2 inch lower than what it was stock as the camber plates easily added 1/2 inch.
No obvious ride difference that I can tell. |

I'm really interested in hearing about the street ability of the swift springs. I track the car once in a while (the E46M3 sees the most track time), but I commute all the time in the E90M3. I don't mind a stiffer ride, but I don't want my dental work to suffer (or hear about it from my wife -- her car is the E46M3 w/Eibach pro kit springs). Stock shocks will be used for now.

I just got quoted to have the springs installed on the E92, does this sound right?
Sounds high to me. Fronts $373 Rears $115 Alignment $80 Or is that about right? Thanks. |

Not a fan of the H&R stuff I've had in the past. I'm looking for a well engineered solution for those of us who want a lowered, but not slammed car. The range of travel of our suspensions is small to begin with, so the amount that isn't sacrificed due to the smaller diameter, wider spaced coils of the Swift springs is appealing as well.

My experience with H&R was on my E36. The sports were bouncy with my Bilsteins and Race was gosh horrid. Switched to Eibach which was closer to Euro spec M3 rates and worked much better with my then Bilsteins. So I am an old puppy with preconcieved opinion based on my past experience. Be curious which route you go. There is someone selling a set of Swift for $250. I got Eibach mine used $175 shipped. Wouldnt hurt to do a comparison back to back? I got the front only H&R bar after speaking to Turner, reading their comparison on the orange M3 they have and reading richbot's opinion (he seems to know his s**t). Lutfy |
