Question Dinan parts and extended warranty

I have a 2008 BMW M3 with a CPO warranty that lasts until mid 2014 or 100,000 miles (currently at 28,000). Keeping this in mind, I was looking at modifying my car and was wondering if a BMW dealership would still honor my CPO warranty even if I showed up with an intake, exhaust, etc from Dinan. I'm not worried about Dinan warrantying their parts, this is purely BMW honoring the CPO warranty.

Thanks

I dont think you will have any problem with Dinan, Im at the same boat, I have a CPO 2010 and planing on getting the suspension from dinan next month.
I had a 3 series dinan in the past and had zero problems with my warranty before.

Honestly it depends on the dealer

If that dealer does the install, pretty high chance of them honoring the CPO warranty

I don't think they can void your warranty for those mods, Dinan or not. They would need to find a way to directly show these components were directly responsible for a failure. My 08 has an exhaust, aftermarket filter and lowering springs (RD) installed by them and warranty issues were never discussed although I've never had an engine or suspension related problem. They still validate other claims.

Thanks for the replies guys. Right now it seems that you guys are fine because nothing has happened. But, what if your motor blows and you have a tune and drop in filter? I'm sure BMW will put the blame on the motor failing on the filter (isn't filtering enough) and/or the tune (making the engine run out of spec).

I still want the safety that the CPO warranty offers. I guess I'm going to have to call my dealership

I'm not that worried, I just don't think gaining 5hp from a filter is worth ruining my 3 years of warranty... I guess I'll just call my dealership and ask

Check the Dinan website for their warrenty info. This should answer your questions.

Dinan parts should not be an issue.

Gee, I guess my brain goes faster then my fingers - or is it the other way around??? (You also might want to proof your comment. )

In any case, in spite of what some others have said I've had a number of Dinan mods over the years and never had any BMW service or warranty issues - just my experience.

Okay thanks. It's just Dinan's website only seems to explain how they warranty their own parts and I was curious about how BMW feels about a Dinan part on an exploded engine.

Have you ever had to use the warranty?
